What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

An English teacher friend is looking for a book that is similar to (or may be like a re-write) "Catcher in the Rye". It might be called something like 21, not sure which way it is written though. She read it approx. 2002. I will try to get more info from her.

So it was written no earlier than 2000? Someone had searched for Crabbe but it's first published 1986.
