Teymour Shahabi (teymourshahabi) | 11 comments Hello book lovers,

I'm an indie author living in NYC, and I made a short YouTube video about what some people might call "trashy books:" what are they, and should we read them? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9FTJ...

I'd love to know your thoughts!

Cheers,

E.A. Turley (eaturley) | 11 comments Me too. Everyone has their own opinion on what they like / don't like. Who has the right to tell anyone that their fav book is trashy? :)

Absolutely agreed! And to those who say the "experts" know better: I'm the world's foremost expert on what I enjoy :)

I find that many times I enjoy things that other people hate on.

That's a good thing! There's no wrong answer! :)

Heather Heffner | 89 comments Haha, the comment about Jane Austen...yes, some of the time I was wondering about the plot in her stories, but they always made me fascinated to read on, and I think that's what's most important! You have quite a few videos up, I look forward to checking them out!

Andrea Lightfoot (goodreadscomandrea17) | 24 comments But then - what do you count as a "trashy book"

Would it be classed as TrashLit? (Trash Literature)

I don't think there is such a thing! Books are to be treasured :) (Though I love the sound of "TrashLit;" maybe we should all reclaim the term!)

Mia Arden (miaarden) | 2 comments I sometimes call "trashy" books "airplane" books. I just want to read something addictive and page-turning when I fly. They aren't "trashy" at all. I've tried reading Nietzsche on an airplane...it just doesn't work.

Agreed! (Though I never tried to read Nietzsche on an airplane :) )

Andrea Lightfoot (goodreadscomandrea17) | 24 comments I've certainly heard of Nietzsche (a book (fiction) I once read mentioned his name. But I've never read anything by him
