Support for Indie Authors discussion

I'm trying to start a newsletter list, but I'm not sure what service to use. I heard a lot about MailChimp, but I didn't like how my personal info (address and phone number) were made public. Is there a way to not make it public? Or is there a better service out there?
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

As I understand it, when you build a list and send out emails you're required by law in some countries to provide that info. It's because of spam. If you don't provide it you could be sued or fined, or even jailed. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Exactly, it's an FCC thing here in America. That's why a lot of authors get a P.O. Box when they do mailing lists, or use the address of a place of business.

That's what I did. Got a PO Box. Chimp mail is who I use.

There is an anti-spam law here in Canada as well. It requires contact info on the email. I also use Mail Chimp. It is so easy to use and you can generate very professional looking newsletters. So far I have done everything for free.

Microsoft Word has a newsletter template but i have not used it. Would that protect your privacy?

I think that would be FTC, not FCC, which regulates the broadcast air waves.

Mailchimp is the most popular. I use it myself, it's a bit complicated but works pretty well if you do it after a while.

We use Mailchimp and is works OK. It's a little clunky in some respects but it's free (up a limit, but it's a pretty high limit). The other services we looked at cost and were harder to deal with.

And yes, you are required to disclose a business address by law in the US.

I am using mailchimp, but very frustrated with it's lack of freatures (That is free features) and very high cost for paid features. I have been researching switching to convertkit, but I understand it might be too technical for those not familiar with email marketing.

I have used Hubspot before and love it, but man is it pricey!

Can you use MailChimp for blog subscription, same as Feedburner? That's what I'm considering using it for (Feedburner refuses to work with my blog for some odd reason) but I only see MailChimp advertising services to send newsletters, so I'm a bit confused...

Yes, I use Mailchimp for blog a subscription service. There's a link on my website that connects it.

I'm using mailpoet running as a plugin on wordpress. I'm very happy with it.
