Krystal Kara | 2 comments To be frank I ended up throwing the book across the room more than once. The only way I could get all the way through it was if I acted as an editor. As a queer woman not only did I feel as if I was left out of the discussion ( though it is a memoir I didn't go into it feeling like I would be) but the homophobic, transphobic, and binary dialogue was horrid. Not to mention the racist, ablest, shaming of woman, and the inaccurate accounts of history and facts. I don't necessarily believe that the author did this with any malicious intent. She has just been a product of our society.I can only hope that she is reflective and moves to becoming more open and inclusive and embracing the definition of feminism. I am sad that this was the choice from not only Emma but in extension from UN Woman. I can only hope that the rest of the books are inclusive and feminist.
