Great African Reads discussion

Welcome to May!

A great impromptu conversation appeared in April about new books dealing with the topic of China in Africa. There seems to be some interest in exploring this, so i have set up a poll to help decide whether we should do it this year or next year. If this is a topic that interests you, and you believe you will participate, please vote! and I will make it happen.

We also have our next Tour stop happening in Swaziland. Our official selection is When Hoopoes Go to Heaven. Please join us! Side reads are also welcomed and encouraged if you would like to read something else instead of or in addition to the group read.

I have also set up a thread to collect suggestions for our upcoming stop in Tanzania, which we will visit in July and August. If you have ideas, let us know!

We continue our exploration of Kenyan literature with the works of Lily Mabura. I have set up the thread, but have not yet written up any background info. Do not let that stop you from leaving comments in the thread! :)

We will do our China project in 2017...be thinking about how you'd like to see it organized. Unbelieveably, in just a couple of short months I'll start asking for suggestions about 2017 :D
