"Uh huh, sure." She said sarcastically, but then nodded and put it back on the shelf with the others. "I haven't read this one yet." She admitted. "But I hope to someday." She then looked at him. "Of I won't ask to borrow it. It means to much to you." She crossed her arms over her chest. She didn't like him but she still respected his personal things.

Ren blinked in surprise when he offered the book to her. She wanted to decline but she had a feeling that's what he wanted her to do. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, she nodded and took he book carefully. "Thank you," she said. "I'll take good care of it promise." She said honestly, and hugged the book to her chest. She then looked back at the bookcase, then around the room. "I'll leave it in here for now until I'm done." She said, and put it back in its proper place.

A few days later, Ren knew she had to leave. There was no way they were keeping her here just or clean all day. It also seemed pointless since she wasn't getting paid. So one day during the night, she dressed into her normal dark clothes and silently left her bedroom. She pulled the hood of her sweater over her head and made her way down the stairs.

Surprisingly the old staircase didn't creak that much as she made her way down. When she made it to the bottom, she sighed with relief and skidded across the grand foyer towards the front door. She unlocked it and opened it up, cringing at the hinges groaned.

Ren paused for a few minutes, making sure that Lane of his father was going to come down the stairs and stop her. She ran outside when the coast was clear, not bothering to close the door. All that mattered was that she was out. She followed the gravel road to the gate Nd cursed when she noticed it was locked. The only other way to get to town was to cut through the forest. She cursed under her breath and ran to the other side of the lot, into the forest.

Ren paused before the forest entrance. She felt an odd chill move down on her spine. She had no problems with forests but this one felt...odd. Like someone or something was in here waiting for her. She didn't want to risk her own escape out of there though. So, she took a deep breath and entered the dark abyss.

A few steps into the woods and Ren was overcome by a very dark feeling. She swallowed hard and made herself continue on. It was jut forest. During the day she would be able to walk around in it without a problem. It was still the same forest, even in the dark. That's what Ren told herself over and over again until she heard a menacing growl close by. She looked ahead and saw an odd shadow. Instead on running like any smart person would do, She crept a little closer and gasped at what she saw. A wolf-no a beast sort of creature gnawing on the remains of a deer. She covered her mouth and stood there frozen like ice.

Ren only stood there for a full minute until her senses came back. She noticed he was no longer distracted, which meant he could totally go for her right now. Not wanting or end up as a pool of blood, Ren snapped out of it, turned, and began running as fast as she could back to the manor.

Ren kept her running steady and fast. She thanked her high grave in gym class throughout high school for that. She did however stumble up the grand steps of the manor, scraping her knee. She hissed at the pain but ignored it as she pushed the large front door open. Her shoes slapped against the polished floor, leaving muddy footprints behind. Ren ran up the stairs to her room, slammed the door and locked it.

Ren leaned heavily against the door, panting. She was too shocked to move. The knock made her gasp and whirl around, pressing her hands into the door just in case whatever was outside tried to get in. "Y-yeah," she breathed. "I-I'm fine." She swallowed hard. She admitted inwardly that she was relieved it was him and not his father.

Ren assumed that he wouldn't drop the subject if she pretended she was fine. And she thought he ought to know about the beast hanging out in his forest. But again, she didn't want him to think she was crazy for trying to escape. The last thing she wanted right now was to be judged and pestered. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself down enough to open the door slowly. It was obvious by her attire that she tried to leave.

She looked down at her clothes as if she forgot what she was doing, which she sort of did. "Can you blame me for trying to leave?" She had to ask. She then crossed her arms, biting her lip nervously. "I saw...a sort of.. bear lion thing in the woods." She said quietly.

Ren stumbled back into her room, giving enough space between them both. She still wasn't very fond of him. She raised an eyebrow when he told her when she shouldn't and should leave. Should he being saying that? She thought. Ren blinked, snapping herself out of her thoughts. She nodded. "yeah I think so." She said, then furrowed her brows. "Wait; you know about that thing?"

Ren pulled her eyebrows together as he somewhat explained. She had a million questions she wanted to ask, but she knew he wouldn't tell her, or be very blunt about it which would only lead to even more questions. She then raised her eyebrows. Wait, did he suggest she not leave at night? meaning she could leave during the day? She could leave? His question pulled her out of her thoughts. "Oh, um, yeah I'm okay." She said. "My ankle hurts a little from when I tripped." She shrugged. She looked obviously shaken.

In a few blinks Lane was gone, out of the room. Ren wasn't sure if he was going to come back, but before she could even think, he was back, holding the frozen peas out to her. "oh." She said, obviously surprised by the kind gesture. "Thank you." She took it then hobbled over to her bed, sitting down on the edge. She shifted back a little and lifted her bad ankle up, straightening it out. She pressed the peas to her ankle, hissing slightly.

Ren glanced up at him when he spoke. She hesitantly nodded. For this brief moment of time she forgot the situation she was in, which was basically being his unpaid housekeeper. She sighed and nodded again, almost to display that she did in fact forget where she was and why. "Thanks." She said softly.

Ren's facial expression turned to surprise when he asked if she needed anything. She immediately wanted to ask for a class of water, her mouth opening to do so, but she stopped herself. "Oh, um, no thank you." She stammered, clearing her throat. "Thank you though....uh, goodnight." She said slowly. She looked away, pretending to be occupied with adjusting the bag of peas more to her sore ankle.
