Christina Smith (cnsmithauthor1) | 21 comments If so, I would like your feedback, because I am considering using both services.

As far as I can see, NetGalley is a service that helps readers of influence discover and recommend new books to their audiences. So , bloggers, librarians, educators can sign up to receive galley copies of ebooks for free to review in advance.

Publishers, pay a fee to submit their work to all of these readers.

So does anyone have any personal testimonial about NetGalley or a personal testimonial about being a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association?

Roxanne Bland (roxanne2) | 103 comments I've used NetGalley. While my book didn't seem to garner much attention in the way of reviews, NG has a feature that lets browsers rate your cover. I did not get a good rating (in fact it was pretty bad), so I had the cover redone. Maybe the cover was the reason no one was interested in my book. Anyway, the one thing about NetGalley is the expense. You can defray that by going through Broad Universe--they have a program where you can get your book listed on NG for $30 a month, instead of the hundreds NG charges for six months, or whatever. Go to http://www.broaduniverse.org for more information.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about IBPA.

Y.A. Marks (yamarks) | 7 comments I'm using Netgalley now. I can't say exactly what will happen, but so far I've received 3 reviews of the book and 22 reviews of my cover. I had heard the Netgalley reviews were a bit harsher. The concept is logical because people who use Netgalley read more books so they are harder to impress.

There are lots of services out there like Netgalley and more are being created all the time. Hungry Author Services is another service that you can research.

D. Palmer (dthoursonpalmer) | 2 comments Same here with NetGalley. I garnered several reviews, mediocre to postive, and in general they had helpful critique and were not afraid to give stronger opinions. Along with the helpful stuff, I also felt they were more apt to nitpick than other reviewers

Ian Copsey (ian_d_copsey) | 69 comments I took a one month offering in NetGalley through Broad Universe to get a "feel." I had one "thumbs up" for the book cover and two "thumbs down." That has helped because I know I have to change my book cover (in process.) I did get a 4.5* review from one (I believe) librarian from Net Galley.

It seems like a "harsh" but professional environment that can help us make sure we're providing a solid product.

So once I have the new book cover in place I'll take a longer period on NetGalley.
