message 56: by Bec (new)

Bec Just a quick question re who qualifies as an Aussie author: do they need to have been born here or is them migrating and living the rest of their life here sufficient (we are a country of migrants after all)?

Living here qualifies them Bec.

Trish L | 139 comments Help! Can someone please explain how to update progress on a challenge. Yesterday I tried to post my finish for both the scarecrow and bingo challenges. I found my original posts (saying that I would participate) and edited them, but they did not show up in the daily digest. So I have just had to start from scratch and retype both. There must be an easier way.

Zoey (rozannen) | 1045 comments Yes much easier way.
You just click on edit in your original post & highlight & copy your post, then paste into your new comment. You must be in 'edit' though when you copy otherwise it will not copy correctly

Thank you ! I edited... that did not work. I copy pasted.... that did not bring over the links. So simple when you know how :-)

Thanks Zoey :)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments Brenda, can you put the link to that colour thingy for the covers here. I know it's somewhere, but I can't find it... :)

That's a good idea Marianne :) I'll be back....

I've asked Sally to do it, and put it in the original post where it'll always be found. I can't edit the post as it's hers :) So when she's next online she'll fix it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments Thank you both!
I found another cover which looks like more yellow for my Y in the Ato Z The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald
so I will test it now :)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments 52.1% which is a lot more yellow than The Yellow House The Yellow House by Emily O'Grady
what do you reckon, is that yellow enough?

Brenda | 80013 comments Mod
I'd say both would be OK Marianne :)

From now on (June 1st 2020) we'll be adding a check mark to your name when challenges are complete. That way it'll give encouragement if you've maybe only got one book left ;) I've updated the Annuals, as well as Autumn (just ended). Phrynne will do her challenges as well...

Happy reading everyone!!

message 77: by Jacinta (new)

Jacinta | 93 comments Just a question? I've finished my 2022 Calendar challenge and all year I've been updating the origin post. Is there an easy way to copy and create a new post? When I copy it doesn't have all the links that I have in my origin post.
Thanks,

message 78: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80013 comments Mod
You need to edit your post first before you copy, just the way you've been doing as you update through the year Jacinta. Copy it like that then paste it as a new post :)

message 81: by BookishDramas (new)

BookishDramas (sanjibkd) | 188 comments Hi there.
Three questions -
1. Not being an Australian, can I join the reading challenges?
2. If Yes to the above, then for the A-Z Authors - 1/1/24 - 31/12/24 challenge do I decide the books to read now or can I pick and choose as I read through the year?
3. Can someone suggest a few Australian thriller writers. I have read Matthew Reilly and Greig Beck, am not sure about other authors.
Thanks in advance.

Yes Sanjib, you certainly can join the challenges. We like people to choose early as it helps others, but if it's a problem, you can do as you go. For choosing Aussie author books, go to our Bookshelf, right hand side top of every group page. Every book on our Bookshelf is by an Aussie author, so you'll find thrillers there. We have quite a large number - one who immediately comes to mind is Michael Robotham but we have lots more. Another thing, when you participate in the challenges, please link your book title, author and cover pic as you'll see others have done.

Thanks Brenda for your prompt response despite the holiday season.
Merry Christmas to you and everyone else.
I will follow the details for the challenge.
