Support for Indie Authors discussion

Hi!

As you know, earning reviews is a big deal for a new author. I was excited to receive my first 5-star review on Goodreads, only to have it disappear today. This is annoying as I have made a strong point to avoid asking friends/family to plant reviews and only market to unpaid reviewers. The girl who left me the review is a beta reader I found on Goodreads, who left her review of her own accord (ie. I didn't even ask her to do it). I don't know if this is why it was removed but can't think of any other reason, and can't find anything to say this isn't acceptable. Any thoughts? Her review still shows on my dashboard page, but the review/star rating is no longer ranked on my book profile.

How recent was the review? Lots of stuff on my dashboard appears and disappears throughout the day while goodreads is updated. It happens with reviews, star ratings, and how many people added my book. That might be all that is happening :). If the review was several days ago, then it should have updated with your book by now.

The review has been on my dashboard for several days. It just disappeared today.

Oh bummer. I do not know why it would be gone today. Sorry I cannot be more helpful :(.

I see a five star review from someone called Melissa. Is that the one you're talking about? It hasn't been removed. Sometimes, though, you will see your overall rating change here and there. Not sure why, but it happens. Sooner or later it will right itself again. Mine fluctuates quite a bit.

I see her review and rating when I click on the book, but the overall star rating alongside the book shows nothing. I have always noticed odd inconsistencies in Goodreads with updates clearly visible in one view taking their own sweet time to filter across to other places. I hope this will sort itself out in time.

Good. Since the review in question is still intact, I changed the topic heading to one that should be a bit less panic inducing. We don't want to give people the impression that Goodreads is deleting reviews willy nilly. I'm also going to lock the thread.
