Marla | 514 comments Sorry about the dud for February, Elsa, I hope my January pick is better. I really like Colleen Hoover, so I pick Never Never (Never Never, #1) by Colleen Hoover for January

And while I'm at it, I pick Eye of the Storm (Security Specialists International, #1) by Monette Michaels for June.

Feel free to read either one first.

message 10: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn Marla wrote: "Hi, Tracy & Mairenn!

Congratulations to your daughter Marla! :)

message 11: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn Oh! I just realized that I haven't posted my list here. So here it is https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

And I also finished Take a Bow by Elizabeth Eulberg that Elsa picked for me. I actually liked it! At first thought, I found it a bit cliche like it's going to be about the usual high school drama but as I read through it, I realized that its not.
It was written in the POV of the four main characters in the book and I liked how the author presented each one with different personalities.

message 12: by Elsa (last edited May 24, 2016 07:13AM) (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Wow! You do have a lot going on Marla. Enjoy your time with your loved ones, have some fun. We will be right here when things settle down again.

Anyway, thanks for my picks. I've been meaning to read Never Never (Never Never, #1) by Colleen Hoover she is one of my favorite authors, I'm sure that one is going to be great. So I will start with her.

Never read anything from Monette Michaels so we will see.

Thanks Again

message 13: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Mairenn glad you enjoyed your first book in this awesome challenge!

message 14: by Marla (new)

Marla | 514 comments Hey there, I am back for 40 hours...I thought I'd check in.

Mairenn, I didn't know if you wanted me to pick a book for you too.

I don't mind if you pick a book for me too. And I'll read it eventually, even if I don't get to it in the chosen month. We could each pick a book and we could read at least one of the 2 books each month.

What do you think?

That's awesome Marla! I don't mind it as well. That way, two books will be off of my tbr list every month. ;)

So...this is my pick for you this June: World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee
I don't know if you're done with the first book, Angelfall, though. Hope you'll find this an interesting read :)

I already posted my pick for Elsa on the other thread but here it is anyway: When It's Love (When It's Love, #1) by Emma Lauren

Enjoy ladies!

message 16: by Elsa (last edited Jun 13, 2016 11:51AM) (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Finished Never Never (Never Never, #1) by Colleen Hoover great story!!! 5 stars
Thanks for picking it for me buddy. It had a horrible cliff hanger!!!I had to order all three on amazon (love it), will be getting them tomorrow. hehe

Eye of the Storm (Security Specialists International, #1) by Monette Michaels 3 stars
Why just 3 well this is how it went
Not a great beginning, little above average middle, not a great ending.

I loved the main lead female when she was a kick ass female, didn't like her so much when she would act like a wimpy babbling female.

On to the next one When It's Love (When It's Love, #1) by Emma Lauren

message 17: by Marla (new)

Marla | 514 comments Sorry, Mairenn, I never picked one for you for June...but I'll pick The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins for July. I just finished that for my real life book club if you want to talk about it. Kind of dark book, but interesting.

And I pick Leo by Mia Sheridan for you in July, Elsa.

So far I've driven 30 hours in the past month...and 8 more this weekend...craaazy. I'll try and check back to see my picks next week.

LOL, Elsa, you picked Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1) by Colleen Houck for me in May...and I finished it today and it was GREAT! So could you pick something else for me for July? Thanks...Marla

message 20: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn I just finished Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg , which is Elsa's pick for me this June. I was kinda annoyed of the MC in the first half of the book. I only enjoyed it in its last few chapters.

Thanks for the pick for July Marla & Elsa. Those books you picked are on my shelf for a long time and I'm glad that I'll be reading them soon.

For July's pick:
Marla The Last Star (The 5th Wave, #3) by Rick Yancey
Elsa Choices (New Beginnings #1) by Michelle Lynn

message 21: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Ops Marla, lol sorry

Must have that one on my mind, should read it and get it over with lol

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

Marla | 514 comments Elsa wrote: "I'm finished with both July picks!!!

Holy smokes, Elsa...you finished them before July even started.

Okay, how about Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson that ought to slow you down, I had a tough time finishing it, but I do hope you like it better than I did. But then you can say that you read it!

Thanks for the new pick...my younger daughter is Francesca, I can't wait until Frankie sees me reading this book. :D

message 25: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Thanks Marla
Let you know when I'm done.

message 26: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Marla, I'm done with Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson !!!

Next, hehe

message 27: by Marla (new)

Marla | 514 comments Wow, Elsa, sorry, I was gone for most of July with softball and I'm leaving to see my family on Thursday...Honolulu :D So I better do this while I'm thinking about it.

Elsa, for August: Beholden (Salvation, #2) by Corinne Michaels and LOL WHEN you finish that one... Attraction (Elements of Chemistry #1; Hypothesis, #1.1) by Penny Reid

Mairenn for August, I pick: Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore
I LOVED Graceling (but I was a little put off by the feminist agenda but I wasn't as thrilled with the other 2 books...it's one of those series where each book is about a different character)

I'm behind, (that is truly my entire life) but I will catch up...eventually.

message 28: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Thanks Marla.
Great minds think alike, I was just thinking about you guys.
Sounds like you are having tons of fun and are going to have even more fun in Honolulu!! WOW! (can I come)

Thanks for my pick(s) LOL. How did you know I might need two (hehe)

Know your supper busy, I'm going to go ahead and select your August book, not sure if you finished July pick yet, but I'm sure you'll catch up. Hope you enjoy it, I did. Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill

message 29: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Mairenn are you ready for your August selection?

message 30: by Marla (new)

Marla | 514 comments Thanks Elsa!

message 31: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn Hey guys! I'm really sorry I've been busy this July and haven't been able to check in.
I'm catching up with my TBR list though. I'll be reading your July pics this August, I hope you don't mind :)

Thanks Marla for picking Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore ! I've been planning to read this one for so long now but I had my hesitations. Now that you picked it for me, I have my reasons to read it :) And I think they're called spin-off novels, in which the characters are connected in each books of the series.

Here's my pic for Marla: End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee I've already picked the 2nd book last June so I thought you're ready for the 3rd :D

For Elsa, I'm picking In All My Wishes (Riverbend #1) by Ciara Knight . Hope you'll like it :)

message 32: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments No problem Marienn, read at your leisure. We will continue to post each month for you.

Ausugt Pick: The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik this was placed on your to read list since 2014. Hope you like it.

message 33: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn Thanks Elsa! I'm now half-way through Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman but I'm having mixed thoughts about the story and the characters.

message 34: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments Marienn,
I know, it;s scary, what was she thinking.
I was asking these questions through out the story.
Is she that naïve? Surely no in todays society, where you have to know someone to trust them like she did.
Then to give away the most precious part of her away to a basically a stranger. Because she was infatuated with Paris? Well that's how I read it.

message 35: by Mairenn (last edited Aug 08, 2016 09:54PM) (new)

Mairenn Yes, those were my questions too. The MC's decision left me frustrated during my read. I mean, come on! Being attracted to someone doesn't equate to trusting them as well especially if he/she is a complete stranger. And she's supposed to be a smart girl, right?

Before I finished the book, I was thinking not to read the 2nd one but the ending left me curious. So, I'll probably look for the next one and see what happens.

message 36: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 642 comments I had to order it as well. In fact it's at home waiting for me to read it.

message 37: by Marla (last edited Aug 30, 2016 05:44PM) (new)

Marla | 514 comments It's that time again...okay, my girls are settled at college and the nest is VERY quiet, so without soccer, volleyball or softball games to run to, I should have tons of time to catch up on my reading. I am super behind on this challenge, but I will work on it in September!

Elsa...your next pick is (if you need it, since I picked 2 for you last month)... Degradation (The Kane Trilogy, #1) by Stylo Fantome

Mairenn, I really want to read The Martian by Andy Weir so I pick it for you.

message 38: by Mairenn (new)

Mairenn You really are a supportive mom to your children Marla. I'm sure your kids are really grateful :)

And I'm really glad that you picked Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore last month! I liked it very much and it's now one of my favorites! And thanks for picking The Martian by Andy Weir

Here are my September picks for the both of you,
Marla: The Revenge of Seven (Lorien Legacies, #5) by Pittacus Lore because I really love this series :D

Mirenn September's pick is: Better Than Perfect by Melissa Kantor (you added this story back in 9/2015)

Marla | 514 comments I just noticed that we aren't GR friends, so I sent you both Friend Requests. I feel after picking books for you for all these months that we should be friends.
