Laurie Gienapp | 45 comments So.. what am I doing wrong here? I started off with the book on Amazon/KDP... and of course I went through CreateSpace. Bought my own ISBN. Now I want to shift all non-Amazon distribution to IngramSpark. So I de-selected the 'Expanded Distribution' option on CreateSpace.. and indeed, my book is no longer available on BookDepository (BD draws its info - at least in part - from CreateSpace).
But IngramSpark still shows the ISBN as already in use. I contacted CreateSpace asking them to release the ISBN for purposes of expanded distribution (I found something online that suggested this extra request might be necessary), and CS has replied that they will transfer my title from CS to Ingram. But I want it on both... and everything I'm seeing says that this is possible, as long as I have de-selected expanded distribution.

So, again, what am I doing wrong?

Charles McGarry (goodreadscomcharles-mcgarry) I wonder if having the expanded distribution takes a while to release on the emerald market. I have both Createspace and Ingram working fine, but I started out with both.

Charles... are you using a Bowker ISBN for both? Who did you list with first? Part of my concern is that I de-selected expanded distribution 2- 3 weeks ago, I included that info in my query of CS support, and their response was NOT.. gee, it takes longer, but rather, 'oh, ok, we'll transfer your title from CreateSpace to Ingram'.

I wonder if you originally got your ISBN through Create Space, or straight from Bowker.

Charles McGarry (goodreadscomcharles-mcgarry) I did them both at the same time essentially and I never did expanded distribution because I knew I would be doing Ingram. I got my ISBN directly from bowker.

Charles McGarry (goodreadscomcharles-mcgarry) I was able to use the same bowker ISBN for both.

Laurie Gienapp | 45 comments ok... this is helpful.. So going forward, it seems like the trick is to not do exp. dist. in the first place. And I'll just wait and see what happens, now that CS says it will transfer the title to Ingram.

Davin Whitehurst (davinwhitehurst) | 4 comments Once you have distribution through Amazon. you have to wait a year I believe before you can do something else with it.

From The Ingram website "*If you have provided any e-books to Amazon for the Kindle in the past 12 months we will not be able to provide service to Kindle through the IngramSpark program."

One thing that I found useful with Amazon, ibooks, and barnes and noble is I distribute to them myself. It gives me control of what the price is or when to pull it or put it back on. Others do the same thign so you can run a one week 99 cent special or many other things. Since Amazon and iBooks are some of the leaders in ebooks this may work well for you.
I use Ingram for my physical disto.

Laurie Gienapp | 45 comments Right. We're not trying to do ebooks... Just print, with Ingram.
