Mahima Pradhan I just saw a video in which people like Emma and Ellen talk about Red Nose Day (or rather, promote it). It was sort of funny, but then I don't know what Red Nose Day means because I don't live in USA. Any help?
Thanks,
Mahima :-)

Ananko-san | 3 comments Also Red Nose Day is not only an american Thing. In Germany we have it too.
For us, i think there is(or maybe was) a big TV event with lots of stars. They talk and show the people (mostly children, I think) that they're helping with the donations. Some of these places they donate to have been given money for many years or a completely financed by these donations.
Some of the stars that come to this show also work on the telephone where you place your donations. they have different phone numbers, so you can choose which one you are talking to.
It's pretty amazing.

Shana Kaplan (sek1128) | 92 comments Red Nose Day started years ago in the UK. It was founded by Director Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones, My Week With Marilyn-
Emma was in it). It is a charity that raises money to help kids living in poverty. They have a telethon on tv starring many famous people who appear in funny sketches to help raise money towards the cause. Emma was in a sketch last year in the UK telethon. Red Nose Day was launched in the US last year. It was a big success. It's great to see everyone having fun for such a important cause. It was wonderful that Emma participated in the US this year. She was sponsored to wear a lamp shade on her head all day. She posted a picture on Instagram of her lamp shade covered head.

Mahima Pradhan Looks like it's pretty fun. Shana, I saw Emma's picture on Instagram. Pretty hilarious (just to say that I'm still laughing my head off that image)! But it's worth it, isn't it?
Was expecting this topic to be locked as soon as I posted it, but gosh, got a good amount of information instead! Learnt a new thing today. Thank you all!
Love,
Mahima =-D

Shana Kaplan (sek1128) | 92 comments No problem Mahima. It was hilarious. Emma's such a good sport and just so cool. I would have loved to be there to hear the brainstorming session for Emma's sponsorship.

Kerry | 8 comments In the UK Red Nose Day is a really big event. It's sponsored by the major supermarkets, and nearly every school gets involved to raise money. People do collections at their work and things like that. Then on telly we have a really long TV show (8 or 10 hours) which is full of comedy sketches aimed at raising money. 50% of the money goes to help fund community projects here in the UK while the other 50% goes to help fund people in need in poverty, buying things like mosquito nets and medication that they need. I'm glad it's moved over to America too now, it's a really great cause.

Mahima Pradhan Kerry, I'm pretty sure it will come to India too, I don't know if it's going on in some other way or by some other name, but if it isn't, I'll be eagerly awaiting that!
I agree with you Shana. Emma has absolutely no bad qualities in her! Have we ever seen her getting involved with the paparazzi or anyone else? Nope! Definitely a good sport!
