Paul Smith (archcorenth) What if your Fairy Godmother were a Vampire, and your Prince Charming a Serial Killer? I've just written a new romance novel based on real events set during the Hundred Years' War with a paranormal twist. It's up at Inkshares, and will be published if I get to 750 preorders. I'd love it if people would give it a look. http://www.inkshares.com/books/cinder...

Daphne Chennault (daphnech) | 68 comments That sounds like a prime-time thriller! Ever since Bill Willingham gained attention with his Fables series (there is a great read!) there have been a lot of old stories rewritten for modern audiences. I've been tinkering with a few old tales myself for a future book.

Another rendition of old tales redone is to tell a classic story from a different point of view. Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon was a beautiful retelling of King Arthur from the female viewpoint.

Paul Smith (archcorenth) Oh thank you, I really like Bill Willingham, since even before Fables. I liked his Elementals series, and Ironwood (although I probably shouldn't have been reading that at the age at which I read it. :-P)

I liked Mists of Avalon, too, but I got rid of my copy after I found out what the author did to her children.
