Elle | 2 comments What makes you a book addict? Some define book addicts as those who prefer to read over eating, sleeping, and/or hanging with friends. I would like to hear what everyone thinks.

Ps: It's okay to say being a member of this great book club :)

Tammy | 33 comments I am called a book worm because rarely does a day pass that I don't read. I am even talking about books when online. I cant pass a bookstore or book section at a store without stopping. I read during commercials while watching T.V. My dogs get jealous when I read. To name a few things.

Katherine | 15 comments For me, I read all the time and if I'm not then I'm talking about books I've read or what I'm going to read. I do change it up sometimes with talking about movies, games or TV series, just to give more variety to my friends and family members who don't have a book addiction like me - is there a AA meeting for book addicts.... just curious. no? well it was worth a try, I don't think I'll ever have the inner strength to give books up.

Matt Wade I consider myself a book addict because I feel compelled to read from a book at least once a day. I'm ideally reading a novel, but occasionally read a non-fiction book if the notion strikes me (currently The Physics of The Future, by Michio Kaku). In addition to books, I've been regularly reading from graphic novel and a manga volume; at the moment, it's Fullmetal Alchemist and (tonight) Batman: Life After Death. On top of that, I frequently read magazines, such as Entertainment Weekly and Esquire. Yeah, I need help, too ;).

Groovy Lee The most beautiful room, to me, is one filled top to bottom with books. I read just about everything. If I see paper lying in a puddle of water, I will stoop over and read it; labels at the store, etc.,

But my most favorite reads are books that opens the door to escapism and takes you on a roller-coaster ride of excitement, suspense, and romance.

I wouldn't call myself an addict, though. I can put the book down; and I don't read 5 or 6 books a week. I guess I'm just a book worm. But I love to read and write.

What makes me a book addict is that I always have a book with me. Now it's easier because I have a Kindle and I have at least 50 books on there so I have choices. Also I will always read the book before I see the movie. I am always telling my friends books that I think they will enjoy as well as letting them know what books I think they should stay away.

Tracy (tracylemos) | 276 comments I'm a book addict, bibliophile, book worm or whatever else you might call us because I LOVE BOOKS! I love bookstores. I love libraries. I can spend hours in them and be perfectly happy. I love old books, new books, Kindles, anything with a book. I would much prefer to read than many, many other things. I give books as gifts. I can talk about books for hours. I get upset if my reading time gets taken away from me. Is that enough reasons?

Esther (eshchory) | 125 comments I am both a reading addict and a bibliophile.
I love books, the look of them, the feel of them, the sight of them stuffed into a bookshelf. I get a little high every time I buy one and could happily live in some of my favourite book shops.

I consider myself a reading addict because although I can get away with not reading my book for a couple of days I have to read something.
I am like a chain smoker - starting a new book as I finish the last which is the reason I am often carrying 2 books in my bag.
I read on my commute on the train. If the train is out of service and I have to travel by bus I can't read due to travel sickness and after a couple of days I start to feel irritable and depressed.

T. K. Elliott (Tiffany) (t_k_elliott) I still read even when I know I shouldn't - like at 11.30pm when I know I have to get up at 5.30am, or when there are chores to be done. Luckily, my husband is just as much of a reading addict, so no stones get thrown.

We got rid of the TV because we never watched it - we always prefer to read. We have so many books we now have a computer/app based catalogue!

Groovy Lee Wow, T.K. Elliot, no TV? How one-of-a-kind is that? You mean your husband isn't glued to a football, or hockey game? He'd rather read?

I love to read, but I love TV, also. It's tennis season, and if I didn't have a TV to look at The French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open--I shutter to think about it:)

But to totally get rid of your TV because of your love for reading, I think you should get the book addict's award:)

Isabela Oliveira (isabelaolivie) | 5 comments I consider myself addicted to books that I love reading , both for studies , as for entertainment. I love to read to relax, spend time , to forget problems , etc.
Although love watching movies and cartoons to pass the time , relax and have fun , I think reading besides doing all this makes a little more. It's amazing how reading makes you travel ( literally)

Danielle's Books (daniellesbooks) My passion makes me a book addict. I don't just read a book, I am consumer by the book. I become attached to each and every character, and when I am finished I feel as though I've lost a friend.

Colleen Scidmore (colleensreadingadventures) | 47 comments I have had a love of reading since I was a child. I could spend great lengths of time in my room holed up with a good book. I lost that side of my self as I graduated high school, but once a book lover always a book lover! So over the past 10 years I have gone back to reading. I just love anything to do with books! Bookstores, Libraries, Book Blogs, and even YouTube channels dedicated to books! I get so excited when I get a new book. I have passed on the love of books to one of my sons who has quite a collection going now and one of my good friends thinks I've got an obsession with books! I have to say I think I agree to a point! I definitely enjoy a good movie but books are my passion.

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 66 comments I would not say I am addicted, but I really like reading. I hate it when people interrupt me while I am reading, and I can stay up until 3-4-5AM just to finish a book that really resonated with me. I think those 2 things are the most "radical" about my book love.

message 15: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Since I first picked up, "See Jane Run", I've never stopped reading. My love for reading during my childhood created within me a vivid imagination, and that in turn has inspired my even greater love for writing.

When I walk into a room of nothing but books, I feel at home.
