The Mystery, Crime, and Thriller Group discussion

A while back I read a novel bout a PI that did investigation for the mob.
I think he was a member of the family (Literally).
and really didn;t have a choice.
Now I can't remember the author name.
Any suggestions?

Found it.
The books are by Timothy Hallinan
and are part of the Junior Bender Mysteries series
