Just for fun: what is the strangest review/recommendation someone's given you about a book?

Not long ago I saw one of my work colleagues reading Brooklyn in the staff canteen. I asked, "Ooh, any good?" She hesitated, then said, "There's been a lot of vomiting so far ..."

Since vomiting is one of my phobias, both in fiction and real life, that's really put me off!

No doubt! I had not heard of the book, but that would certainly put me off as well.

I had a friend tell me, "If you hated the movie Fight Club, the book is worse." Well, I actually enjoyed the movie, so I was excited to read the book.

Nope, the book was not as good with the reveal, and was just really, really, really bizarre. It was one of those times when the book wasn't actually better than the movie!
