Kazen Sam - Excellent!

Jason - Hello! I don't see your name on our roster... have you been assigned to our team?

I think they're still accepting people on the waiting list to act as replacements - you can do that at the sign up thread over here :)

Kate ★ (spillsandspoils) | 83 comments I had a lot of catching up to to because I just got married yesterday! Yeah, it was a lot of fun with a lot of tears.

So.. question, do we sign up for the misses too? I think I'm too late to sign up for a hit now. :(

Oh wait, I was a reading through the posts and Margaret's book can also count for Science Fiction. If maybe you could transfer her to the first hit and I'll take over horror? I have a horror book that I will read first.

Kazen The time is upon us - Let's Wobble!

A bunch of information has been added to the first few posts of this thread, so if you have any questions take a look - you may just find the link/tidbit you need. :D

prag ♻ (janayanation) Yay! I'm gonna go start my book now.

Congrats! I cried like crazy during my wedding but it was totally worth it. I asked the makeup lady if she had any tips on how not to cry and she said, "Don't bother. Just enjoy stuff as it comes." :)

Back to books... nah, let's not sign up for misses. Reading for a hit, even if it's taken, is a great idea because then we can use it for bonus points once the first two books are read. Bwahahaha! :D

message 309: by Kate (new)

Kate ★ (spillsandspoils) | 83 comments Kazen: I started crying when it was my dad's time to speak. Lol but true, you just have to bask in the moment and not care about crying.

Yay! I'll start my book now. Did you see my suggestion about the shift of Margaret's book to science fiction? That's if she agrees. :) I'm going to start reading Daughters Unto Devils

message 310: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I think I'll shift it to science fiction now... she's a co-captain so she can curse me out in the captain's lounge if she doesn't like it, hehehe.

Margaret | 456 comments Hi Team,

OK, here's a visual of our board with our hits and misses:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

From the rules: Ships are only vertical or horizontal

Hidden on the board are:
1 Battleship (5 squares)
2 Cruisers (4 squares each)
3 Frigates (3 squares each)
4 Minesweepers (2 squares each)
5 Submarines (1 square each)

We didn't hit any subs, so for our next guesses, we just need to decide where next to our hits we pick :)

LOL - I am happy to change my book to whatever task you need it to be - it is why I picked it because we could use it for so many of the tasks.

Kazen Sam wrote: "For the next guesses, can the books we've read (during the challenge) be used to fulfil the task??"

As far as I understand it, yes! As long as they haven't been used elsewhere. Bwahaha. :)

eta: Once we move on to the next part of Wobble unused finished books don't carry over, though. Only the books finished during a particular Wobble section count for that section. It's okay to start a book in Battleship and finish it in the next task, though. Clear as mud? ;)

Kazen Tammie - My pleasure and yes, this is going to be sooooo much fun! We managed to find books that will count as horror so everything's covered there. All that's left to do is read our hearts out until Monday, when we get another round of guesses :D

I've put it on my wobble 2016 shelf, but where do I post it? Is there a books read thread I'm missing or do I just post it here?

Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Date read: 18/6/16

Task you're reading for: B1, romance.

I hope I did that right^.

message 330: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Quick Question, if it is shelved as Sci-Fi Fantasy, that works for Science Fiction right?

message 331: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Sam wrote: "By the way, foreign language books are acceptable too, right?"

Yup! They just need to be listed on goodreads and meet all the usual requirements (100+ pages, etc).

message 332: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Pragya wrote: "Buddy reads won't amount to more points, will they?"

Not for Battleship, no.

As long as you're reading for one of the hit tasks we'll be fine - we had more people volunteer for horror than I was expecting! Read what makes you happy :)

Kazen Riah wrote: "I would love to read a horror book as well. But I know it'll be towards bonus points correct?"

message 335: by Kazen (last edited Jun 19, 2016 12:44AM) (new)

Kazen

I'm hiding the misses under a spoiler so we can concentrate on HITS! If your name is not on the list fear not - just read for a hit and we'll be able to use your book for bonus points, yea! :D

A4 - HIT! - Read a book shelved as science fiction by at least 10 people
Book 1: Lory
Book 2: Margaret

B1 - HIT! - BONUS - Read a book shelved as romance by at least 10 people
✔ Book 1: Kazen
✔ Book 2: Pragya
Bonus 1: Tori

E5 - HIT! - Read a book shelved as mystery by at least 10 people
✔ Book 1: Tammie
Book 2: Brianna

H5 - HIT! - Read a book shelved as horror by at least 10 people
✔ Book 1: Kate
Book 2: Sam (read, waiting for shelf)

I9 - HIT! - Read a book shelved as paranormal by at least 10 people
Book 1: Ella
✔ Book 2: Annabeth

(view spoiler)

What a wonderful weekend to Wobble! :D

The exams went well! I still have one more to go and unfortunately it's winter down here in NZ! Could I choose A4? Is there any way of knowing if a book has been shelved by 10 people? I don't think I have a shelf for Wobble. I'm pretty new to this website -- what do I include on the shelf?

Margaret | 456 comments While waiting for my science fiction book to get to me from the library, I have started reading Beyond The Promise.

Its a romance but it won't meet the bonus points because only 5 people have shelved it as romance - good grief!!

Its the last of my pre-Wobble library books so, for all my other reads, I will make sure they at least meet one of the hit tasks. Hopefully we will be able to use it when we get our new batch of "hit" tasks.

For what its worth, it does match up with the following miss task, in case someone else reads a book for it too:
J1 - miss - read a book where author's first and last names have same initials

Kazen Melissa wrote: "Could I choose A4? Is there any way of knowing if a book has been shelved by 10 people? I don't think I have a shelf for Wobble. I'm pretty new to this website -- what do I include on the shelf?"

Our future guesses will be used to suss out ships around our current hits, but if we get a spare guess we'll keep A4 in mind. :)

On the right side of a book's page there's a listing of "genres". At the bottom of that click "see top shelves" and a list will come up. I end up using the find feature (Ctrl+F in firefox) to see if a genre is on the page - if there are 10 or more people shelving it you're golden.

To make a shelf - go to My Books, and on the left hand side click "add shelf". Many people have been naming their wobble shelves, well, "wobble" or "challenge", but you can use anything you like. Once you do that post back here what the shelf is called so I can get it in the spreadsheet.

When you finish a book first shelve it as "read" (of course! hehe) and then also shelve it as your wobble shelf. This way the spreadsheet will import the data and make things easier for us captains. :)

Hope that makes sense, let me know if it doesn't!

Way to go, Kate!

Quick question for you - when you go to the book's detail page, what day does it show you as having finished? Today's the 18th and in the spreadsheet it's showing up as the 19th for some reason... I'm trying to figure out if this is international time line weirdness, goodreads weirdness, or spreadsheet weirdness. ;) Thanks!

From the rules, "◈ Any book in any language will count, as long as it meets the criteria."

So yup, that's totally fine. It's over 100 pages (English edition 232 pages) and meets all the other requirements as far as I can see. This one was started before the challenge and doesn't count, of course, but your next one will provided it meets requirements. :)
