Tati | 1350 comments may I ask why the tournaments were cancelled?

message 3052: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments There were concerns on how the teams would be paired up fairly, and I don't believe there were many people who liked the idea of it to begin with. It does take the pressure off on keeping our HP and potions up so we can just play and enjoy without worrying about our HP dropping to 0 every 16 hours.

message 3055: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments This one should be easy! There are a couple books with more than 100 mentions of bugs in each book so we can get this in 1 shot! I'll find the titles of those books and list them.

message 3056: by Cathy M. (last edited Oct 16, 2016 11:46PM) (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments You're just looking for mentions of bugs in the story. Each mention counts so if a book has a lot of bugs in the story, it can be done with 1 books. Here are a couple that will work (mentions bugs more than 100x):

The Bees
The Spider Diaries: Part 1
The Swarm
This Book Is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don't Touch It -> I'm not 100% on this but I believe it did fit

Tati | 1350 comments I'm currently reading a #4 in a series :)

message 3058: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Series books will continue to be needed so keep 'em coming!

I didn't get much reading in today due to a killer headache. It's a little better now but not enough. Had a ton of series books lined up for today too :/

message 3059: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments I spent the weekend with dizziness/vertigo. I hate it when everything keeps spinning and buckling when it shouldn't. All because of an inadequate pair of glasses

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
I hope both of you ladies are feeling better today! Hopefully Wobble isn't turning everyone into the walking wounded. Or reading wounded due to the eye strain.

message 3061: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments I'm much better! Still a little unbalanced, but at least the world has stilled.

And all because I thought it'd be okay to switch back to my previous pair of glasses (the current one got a big scratch on one of the lenses).

I'll read the bug book. The Spider Diaries is free on kindle and it's less than 200 pages. Although based on the ratings, I don't have high hopes for this book.

So I'm reading a cozy mystery right now where the MCs go to a new resort call the Flying Squirrel Lodge.

There should be bonus points for this. HAHA

message 3064: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments I think there should too. You should suggest that when they do this again, if they use unique names like this, there is 1 bonus point given for the mention of any team name in a book read. That would make it fair, and a bit of extra fun.

message 3065: by Shanna_redwind (last edited Oct 17, 2016 05:56AM) (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments "Last-ditch effort" is good for an idiom, isn't it? If so, it's in the book I'm currently reading Just a Geek: Unflinchingly honest tales of the search for life, love, and fulfillment beyond the Starship Enterprise. (at 36.9% so that I don't have to write that down anywhere else)

message 3066: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments I just finished Rainshadow Road which has an idiom if we still need one, otherwise can be used as #2 in a series

You're sitting in the tavern enjoying the new specialty Drop Bear Steak and a man sidles up to you. He smells of beer and stale sweat which you suppose isn't all that different from anyone else around the bar or even the bar in general.
"Hey, I heard you know things. I'm looking for these scrolls, they sound kind of the same. Know what they are?"
You're not entirely sure what he's talking about but you figure that with the condition he's in, he would accept anything resembling the right answer.

Shanna, any of the characters in Trash happen to have a pet cat :)

Winter Kissed: A Kiss of Frost / Ice Bound - Michele Hauf & Vivi Anna

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments Nope, sorry. No pets at all in Trash, just utter, abject poverty.

Fishished Just a Geek. He did have a pet cat, but it was only mentioned in passing once in the book, so I'm not sure that's enough.

message 3076: by Foxy Grandma (new)

Foxy Grandma (foxygrandma) | 450 comments Can read Unknown and A Thread Unbroken for prefix.

Shanna, I wasn't expecting Trash to have a cat in it based on the description, but figured I might as well ask.

We'll leave Just a Geek where it is since it finishes off a card.

Beth, I have you down for those two reads :)

it's always counted as an animal before. If we can have a dragon pull our chariot in the Olympics, it'll count as an animal here too.

Change Caught Dead Handed (Witch City Mystery, #1) by Carol J. Perry to Promised by Post

Then you can put Caught Dead Handed under the cat category. Cat is prominent in that one

message 3093: by Shanna_redwind (last edited Oct 19, 2016 07:26PM) (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments Finished The Last Free Cat. I don't recommend it. While the writing is decent, the plot is kinda dumb. They live in a dystopian society that, as far as I could tell, the only problem is that owning an unregistered cat is a serious criminal offence. So of course, with that seeming to be the only real restriction in the society, what do our genius characters proceed to do?

It's really quiet in here today.

That does sound dumb...

Am reading a #9 and then #10 book to finish up Weapon Level 10. Now that we're getting up in level, there are so many more books to read! Can't complain though. I'm leveling up my personal weapon for my RPG which is awesome :)

I'm currently reading Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George , would that work?

message 3098: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
Tati, yes and yes. It doesn't say you have to be able to see the entire body of the animal or anything so that should work fine.
