I must have missed that post, I don't think that she has been on yet. I'll just continue reading my bonus book in the meantime :p

I have read 2 of her books. I enjoyed the writing, the story and the fact that they are based in NC

there's another book I've been planning on reading. I'll hopefully get to read it for one of our challenges in this. I'm currently reading "In the Blood" by Lisa Unger. it's a suspense-thriller and it is super creepy. I had to put it down last night because I couldn't keep reading it before bed :p

Tati | 1350 comments I don't have anything planned, reading-wise. I'm reading what catches my eye on my Kindle

message 356: by [deleted user] (new)

Nice, I don't have a kindle but I'll sometimes borrow the one at the library to read the books that are Ebook format only.

message 357: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments I absolutely love my Kindle! I don't go anywhere without it, even if there little to no chance of reading time. It's almost like a security blanket LOL

message 358: by [deleted user] (new)

I always carry a book with me too :)

Erin | 153 comments I am reading winter it can be tagged as B8, C2, or J3.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Put me down for Historical - have about 200 pgs left of my book so should finish it tonight.

message 361: by Angela (new)

Angela | 504 comments I have a mystery and historical I can work through this week. They can count for bonus points. I generally read a lot slower on weekdays than I do on weekends.

If it's helpful, I'll track what categories we've each committed to.

Tati | 1350 comments Bit of a stupid question here, which I'm sure has already been answered, but I couldn't find it.

I'm currently reading A Court of Thorns and Roses, and it's, as of now, unassigned. Should I put it in my shelf and have it logged on the spreadsheet, or should I post it on the books read thread and wait for it to be assigned before putting it on my challenge shelf?

message 363: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments I read on my phone so its always with me. It did take a bit to get used to the small screen and flipping pages so often, but I don't even think about it anymore.

I'd prefer just to have it go ahead and pull into the spreadsheet. For that it needs to be on your challenge shelf. I think Cathy, Angela, and I will be doing a logging blitz at the end once we have our last set of tasks to get all of the hits taken care of and then getting all of the bonuses logged.

On the individual team member tabs where the books are list is a column for Used. We'll be able to tell from that whether or not your book has been assigned to a task. So things won't get lost in the shuffle.

Tati | 1350 comments Fair enough!

Also, what is the Page Override tab in the spreadsheet (just curious)?

message 367: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments The Page Override is for the times when GR doesn't list a page # or it may be wrong. In that case we have to override what is listed so it's correct.

My other book (the audio) is a Mystery, YA or Contemporary so we can use it where we need it.

I fling money at Sarah Maas twice a year (May for this series and September for Throne of Glass series)

A lot of people hated on A Court of Mist and Fury but I thought it was great. It was nice to see true character development in YA.

message 370: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments I'm actually re-reading it, which is pretty atypical for me (I read it the day it came out, last month).

I loved it! In fact, I think it was my first 5-star of the year.

Yes you are right, I think it is technically called New Adult.

Re-reads can only count if it's been 6 months since the last time you read the book.

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments I've just finished Hattie Ever After. Such wonderful descriptions of life in 1919.

Since we have 4 primary Romance to do, I'll stick this in Romance. Could be put in Historical or YA though.

message 376: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Gosh, a lot happens when you work for 12 hours after first sleeping all night. I am continuiing my historical, and I have a mystery lined up as well. But I don't know how much I can get in this week.

message 377: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments What did we hit and sink?

message 378: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I finished both books today & will log/post them shortly.

Sarah - we sunk 1 sub so we got 1 additional guess. This round they were:

Hits -
A-4
B-8
C-2
D-10
F-7

Misses -
D-6
F-3
H-1
H-5
J-3
A-3

You can see what our gameboard looks like on the 2nd tab of the official spreadsheet (linked by Judith on page 1). Though too bad it doesn't list which square was the sub...

message 379: by Judith (last edited Jun 21, 2016 03:41AM) (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
The sunk sub is B8

If you are in our Team Spreadsheet and look at the tab 'Battleship', if you look under the heading 'Log' it shows each entry and the result, including which shot sunk a ship. Example: see line 32 on the spreadsheet.

Okay Team,

I went through all of the unlogged books so far and matched things up with our new hit tasks. Everything was able to be matched up so we have 2 primary reads for all current hit tasks so everything is open for bonus reads.

In my top post I listed who ended up being a primary read for each hit task so it's easier to see which options are open to each team member for a bonus read.

We are doing well ladies, keep up the good work :)

FYI - I finally remember to add a link to the Wobble Team Rankings spreadsheet in my top post with all of the other links in case people were curious as to where things stand.

Right now we are actually in 2nd place. Although do to the nature of this game and the varying strategies, I wouldn't read much into that.

However, it still feels good to see that high of a ranking!

message 382: by [deleted user] (new)

Judith, I was just wondering how you were logging the bonus books. Are you keeping them as unused until the last set of guesses and then assigning the left overs as the bonus books? Just wondering how that part of things work.

message 383: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments Erm, not sure if it makes a difference, but I haven't read a mystery book.

I've read a historical and a romance

Amy wrote: "Judith, I was just wondering how you were logging the bonus books. Are you keeping them as unused until the last set of guesses and then assigning the left overs as the bonus books? Just wondering ..."

Yes, that's the plan for now. Once we get the last set of hits (we have 2 more rounds of guessing) we will try to get primaries on everything and then start filling out bonuses.

And then other read books that people have completed that won't work for a bonus read, I'm confident we can find a home for in a miss task so we won't miss out on collecting points for all the books read.

Thanks for catching that! I logged the books correctly in the sheet (thank goodness) but when I updated the top post I flipped the readers for D10 & F7.

The post has been corrected :)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments Finished up The Boy Who Drew Monsters. It wasn't really what I expected. Good though. It would fit bonus for Mystery or for the next hits if we get Horror or another Paranormal.
Also fits Male narrator

Starting The Fall. I liked The Strain so I'm looking forward to this one.

Also starting Redshirts I've been wanting to read this and it just arrived on my phone after having it on hold for a bit so I hope we'll be able to find a place for it. Surely we'll get science fiction or humour

That's a completely understandable problem. I love me some Rhys. When I finished Court of Mist and Fury I was annoyed I had to wait until May 2017 to read book 3. LOL

Hello Everyone!

Last time I forgot to ask about what guesses we'd like to make for round 2 almost when it was time for me to enter them.

Round 3 is happening on Friday and I wanted to have a bit more time for a team discussion. And remember that we will have one more round after Friday to try and sink any remaining ships (round 4 is Monday).

Amanda (our mentor) updated our Bingo board so it shows where we have our hits and misses. Plus she marked off the squares around B8 (our sunk submarine) where there won't be a ship so we don't have to use up any guesses needlessly.

Over the next day or so look at the board and we can start brainstorming our next plan of attack. I'm thinking of a mix of trying to sink some of what we've hit and making a guess or 2 in that blank area in the bottom right-ish corner of the board.

What I'd like is to get team consensus on 10 new main guesses and then a few 'back up' guesses in case I sink a ship and earn the team an extra guess.

Tati wrote: "I'm having that very same problem... Can't we swap Empire of Storms with Book 3?"

Hmmm, no. I want that one right now too. She just needs to publish everything RIGHT NOW.

I shouldn't complain at least she is sticking to one per series per year and when the original publish date is.

I also love The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon and she is behind schedule and I think book 3's release was just pushed back again. She's killing me!! But I know it'll be worth it in the end. . .

Now i'll start Men at Arms :D Probably i'll start slow and after spend 2 days to get to 30%, i'll eat this book!

message 395: by Shanna_redwind (last edited Jun 22, 2016 06:00AM) (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments There's two focuses, trying to sink the ships we have and trying to find more. I've tried to blend the two in this idea.

For the battleship shots, I'd go with I1 and leave J2 (or the reverse) since we have another volley, and we might get lucky and not have to use the second shot to sink it.
Then I'd go with all the middles, since we need to see if they are ships B2 D9 F6.

I'd be tempted to use just one shot on either A5 or B4, and then try to guess how big the ship is on the last volley. It's possible that we'll sink it with that single shot, but even if we miss we are at least guaranteed a hit in the last round.

That leaves 5 shots to go exploring with. There's a lot of open space in that bottom right corner. I'd probably throw at least 3 shots into there, and perhaps use the other 2 to try to determine the lengths of a couple of the ships. I think I'd rather just use all 5 shots through that right side, exploring it. Then in our next volley of 10, and with any extras we get for sinking ships we can focus on trying to sink the ships we have.

I would definitely say to take the initiative and use any extra shot we get from sinking a ship immediately to try to determine where the other ships are like you did before. That way we have more information for our last volley of shots.

We've hit 1 sub (leaving 4 for us to stumble across)
We've found 1 Minesweeper at J1, we just need to figure which way it's going. (leaving 3 minesweepers)

The other ships would pretty much fit in most of our hits

message 396: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments For that blind space, in the bottom right, do you guys think that:

G9-H8-I9-H10 could work?

message 397: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments I was thinking a pattern something like that as well.

message 398: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments I'm just curious/forgetful, how many books did I sign up for?

Just finished Eyes Turned Skyward (Flight & Glory, #2) by Rebecca Yarros . As I'm about to start my drive home, I'll pick something else when I get there.

message 399: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments These are what I think is a good start - B2, B4, A6, I1 or J2 ( but not both because we will know either way if it is a sink or a miss and know next time - don't waist a guess), D9, F6 and that leaves 4 more to guess where ever.

It is hard to know what to do with bonus guesses without knowing where the hits and misses are first. It would be nice if they let us stategize our bonuses together after these gueses. Same with the next round.

message 400: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7435 comments Mod
I probably could wait on the bonus guesses actually. I only have to submit our main 10 to make sure we don't 'cheat'.
