this book is pretty...distrubing
I'm interested to know what you think, Clementine! Because(view spoiler)[ I wouldn't think injuring someone and then limiting their speech, mobility and eyes would ultimately cause them to just join a cult.
I know they are supposed to be brainwashing her, but I can't see how they could have "made her" lose her memories. They still run the risk of her remembering. I would think every "acquired" member would ultimately look to run/leave the cult....
this doesn't seem feasible so far. am I just not understanding? (hide spoiler)]

Stella(view spoiler)[ I like her. she seems really dedicated. but I worry that Sara isn't her friend - I mean, I hope she is...but I worry that she's not, she's just another person in all this. the one that Stella will hopefully find.
also, that flash drive and the two sisters. how horrible. I wonder if the one sister left is still in the cult?! (hide spoiler)]

Sara(view spoiler)[ You know, I hope beyond hope that she is actually a detective or something....someone who actually wanted to find this cult and, unfortunately, has lost her memory. maybe when she gains it, she'll be able to take them down :) (hide spoiler)]

Jacob(view spoiler)[ I really hope he becomes her ally. I can't believe he chose this. it's scary how easy it was for him to hit her and to tell her he rules her life and that should make it easier on her. Yikes. I wouldn't do well in that world (hide spoiler)]

Yes, I understand. I was going to read it a few weeks back but school is keeping me so busy!!! But I do remember that the first few pages were a little bit iffy so I knew I would need a time when I could concentrate more. I hope you end up liking it and I'm planning on reading it pretty soon too so possibly I will join you. LOL

I think we'll both end up liking it :)
it's interesting so far and I think it will get better as the plot develops and we get more information

but(view spoiler)[ i'm not at all sickened by Sara. I forgot how persuasive corporal punishment can be. Jacob is doing a good job of keeping her off balance, fearful and yet, SHE'S doing a good job of trying to be something he needs so he doesn't hurt her (hide spoiler)]

I really hope(view spoiler)[ Elizabeth and Raquel help her get out of there instead of indoctrinating her in. it's so so so sad to me that the other 2 women were taken and are still there. One for 5 years?!? Her family must miss her so much (hide spoiler)]

I knew(view spoiler)[ that she was Stella as soon as they started mentioning dates...and the dates Stella was with Dylan were dates BEFORE "Sara" had arrived with jacob (hide spoiler)]

I also knew(view spoiler)[ Jacob was a cop. He'd been sounding so strategic. and so...."this has to work" type of stuff. I knew he wasn't really into it and that he was just climbing the ladder to get the heart of it - to the top. I really hope he can bring it down (hide spoiler)]

there is no way that Dylan gave her to The Light. He sounded just as confused when she went missing as he was
I think it was FOSTER. I think he knew she was getting too close and he threw her to the wolves and they've been setting up Dylan for years.....

I'm SO glad you liked this one!!! I'm reading it too and I'll post tomorrow. I'm not far enough into it to post anything worthwhile yet. I already know I'll want to read book 2, too.
