Lucas Sposato Life of Pi is a fantastic fictional novel, it follows a young indian boy by the name of Piscine Molitor Patel. Pi has an unbelievable story, that some say well make you believe in god. A writer visits him in Canada as he is in search of inspiration, and hoping that Pi can supply it for him. Pi was born and raised in French India, in a town called Pondicherry. Pi is a young boy who is just discovering religion. Over the span of his life he was acquainted with different religions, and he becomes the first ever muslim catholic and christian indian boy. When the city ceases to support the zoo, Pi’s father decides they will move to Canada, as there is opportunity for him to work. Him and his family must travel across the pacific ocean, on a cargo ship.

Things go wrong when a massive storm hits, and the ship capsizes. Pi’s family sinks to their death, along with most of the crew. Pi is left on a lifeboat, with a rather strange crew, that comprises of an orangutan, a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, and a large male bengal tiger. Now begins an incredible story of Pi’s survival. This is an incredible, dramatic, fictional novel. Pi is faced with all the struggles of a shipwrecked teen. The incredible is mimicked by a more rather believable story involving a japanese boy, his mother, a cook and Pi himself.

Upon this journey of survival he encounters some truly mesmerizing pieces that nature has to offer. Pi faces an epic storm in which survival was nearly impossible, sharks, starvation, and the struggle of solidarity. Overall this was truly a fantastical read, in which every scene was so greatly described. This is a novel I can confidently recommend to people of any age. The book did get a little boring at times as things started to drag on, but the author did a great job in describing every scene, and keeping the reader engaged in the protagonists thought.
