What book about the Tudors or Tudor England would you like for the group to read as our Group Read in August?

I too just finished Katherine of Aragon . I loved it. I can't wait for Alison Weir's next book about Ann Boylen

Erin, we had The King's Curse as a Group Read in 2014 - that thread is still open, by the way. (All the threads for our past group reads remain open.)

I think I will nominate The Six Wives of Henry VIII, by Alison Weir, and Elizabeth's London: Everyday Life in Elizabethan London, by Liza Picard.

As newbie member, I hope to god I'm not violating a group protocol by self-indulgently suggesting a germane work of historical fiction that I've recently published. Encourage or chasten me; I'm up for instruction. Thanks. --John

I'd like to nominate . It's the first in the spinoff The Boleyn Trilogy. I've not read it yet, but I've heard you don't really have to have read the Boleyn Trilogy to read it, that it gives background information. The books in the Boleyn Trilogy usually did that too.

The current leader: The Six Wives of Henry VIII, by Alison Weir.

I've read The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Alison Weir. 17 years ago I visited Hampton Court while in London. I knew very little about the Tudors. I bought this book in Harrod's the next day. I was hooked. I've been reading all things Tudor ever since. Alison Weir became on of my favorite authors.

My first tudor book was Brief Gaudy Hour by Barbara Barnes, non-fiction, which fueled my passion for all things Tudor. My husband took me to England for our honeymoon where I visited Hampton Court among many other places. And I too would say Alison Weir is one of my favorite authors and I think I have read nearly all of her books.
