Trish, I read your reviews and the book sounds suspenseful; however, I'm unable to read about pedophilia and the rape of a child without getting upset.

The pedophile gets what he deserves, but I totally understand. I once was asked in an interview why I write what I write and it made me realize I try to bring attention to the ills of the world and when the readers see the bad guys coming to a bad end I like to think it gives them some satisfaction. Like sticking pins into a voodoo doll.

I truly understand and that's how I deal with my bad guys, too. That said, I never sexually harm the minors in my stories. Even though I realize the world is full of pedophiles and that they crush the spirit of children every minute of every day, I don't want to write nor read about it. This horrific evil has touched my family in years past.

BTW, I love the idea of voodoo dolls. My current WIP is titled Voodoo Eyes. "Got pin, will stick."

After you mentioned your publisher, I checked out your book. I've been chapter mates with a couple of the acquiring editors and have met Debbie on occasion. They are good people.

I bought Virgo's Vice and am enjoying the read. The subject matter we talked about is being handled delicately. Thanks! I'm a slow reader, but will post a review when I'm finished.

Who was your acquiring editor?

This is my third novel with SoulMate, and they have just accepted the next one. Debby was the original acquiring editor and now although Caroline works with me on the content editing, I still submit my books to Debby.

I don't know her. My chapter mates: Jaye, Shauna, and Stella. Lovely ladies.

By chapter mates do you mean critique partners? I have one, Tami, who has done wonders for my upcoming book during the development stages. I couldn't have done without her.

We are/were members of Northwest Houston Romance Writers of America. They probably only know me by my legal name. :) I casually met Debbie at two conferences. I think both conferences were in Houston.

You're lucky you were able to go. I'm enjoying Miss Lollipop. She sees it all!

Miss Lollipop needs a therapist. My Yorkie is a cat in a dog's body. He doesn't care if you like him or not, and he's afraid of our house bunny, Fluffy.

Richard, I share in your wonder and bewilderment. I"m also participating in the Goodreads giveaway, and previously did the Amazon giveaway of 40 books that was oversubscribed in two hours on Facebook. My idea is that you won't catch fish without bait in the water. Onwards, Upwards and best of luck with your book promotions.

Every one of us appreciates reviews. I wonder if the "gentle readers" understand the great value they add whenever they take the time to tell others what they think about a book.

Why should I pay for a review?
Quite simply this is exploitation and preying on the vanity of newly published authors ......there are no shortcuts in publishing and certainly and if there were I doubt if they would come so cheap as a few dollars.

The Bad Box is free on Kindle through 08/04, and I would certainly appreciate some reviews. It's rather dark and grisly, so if you don't like that sort of thing you won't enjoy it.
