Seema M. Fazil (brotherlyloveisbeautiful) | 44 comments It's so irritating! Sometimes people interfere with what I'm reading, like, I keep being told to read nonfiction and not all the time fiction, you know, things like that! Does this happen to u too? I hope I'm not the only one.

Ashley Marie oh gods, I can't even count the number of people who told me I simply HAD to read 50 Shades. ugggggh. They would all say "I know you don't normally read this kind of stuff but it's SO good!" an I was like "I have less than zero interest in those books kthxbye"

Thankfully I resisted the temptation :P

Taz (taraleannstan) Luckily I haven't had to deal with this too much.. The only thing I had to deal with was my parents telling me not to read something (Harry Potter, and eventually I read it anyway haha). Other than that, no one really has a say in what I read. It's up to me!

Greta G My husband says I read too much depressing stuff, especially Holocaust memoirs. Of course, he's the one who's getting to hear my outrage.

It used to happen to me more often when I was a teenager. As an adult people don't bother me with that stuff fortunately.

The only thing I get annoyed at is people putting down popular books they hate like 50 shades or Twilight, etc., and judging anyone who reads or likes them. It's silly to do so.

I used to hate on/judge people who read things I didn't like. I try not to so much anymore, because we all have our different tastes :) But if I'm not interested in something, I don't want people shoving it down my throat and vice-versa.

Yes and yes. haha Though it's mostly playful judging from my mom, because she knows how many books I still need to read.. Just recently I read The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater twice in a row, and then read the second book a third time. Finally forcing myself to read something else! :P

Ashley Marie My sister likes to complain about pretty much everything when she comes over -- she'll look at whatever I'm reading and roll her eyes and say "this sounds SO boring" and I'm like um... I didn't ask you :P same goes for movies.

I work at the front desk of a gym and I often read to pass the time when we are slow. Members are always making comments about me reading all the time. But really, what else can I do up here and what business is it of theirs? It's not like it takes time away from me preforming my job duties.

Jocelin | 151 comments The way way my husband interferes with my reading is trying to give me more books to read. He tells me that he admires my speed of reading and thinks that I can plow through a book in no time. Because he thinks this way, he makes my "tbr" pile even taller.
