I think the best way to dive into Marvel and DC is to get their subscription services, DC Infinite and Marvel Unlimited. Then you can read whatever interests you and you get access to most of their back catalogs.
Also, since you use the library, check out hoopla.com. It's free with a library account for must people in the U.S. They have comics from almost all publishers on there and the number of borrows you gets reset each month so you should check it out this weekend. I use it all the time. If you would like suggestions, just ask.

I love Hoopla. I just wish I could borrow more than 4 a month. I’ll check out the Marvel and DC subscriptions though I’ll probably alternate between the two.

Wow, you only get 4. I get 15 from our library. Pro tip. If other family members don't use their hoopla borrows you can log in as them and use theirs too. That's what I do with my wife's.
A lot of people switch back and forth. If you go with DC, know that their are 2 levels, regular and Ultra. Ultra is worth the extra dough. Comics show up after only a month, all of the Vertigo titles are only on Ultra and it also has trades on there. The regular one you have to wait about 8 months for new content and no Vertigo titles or trades. A year subscription to either service is a lot cheaper than monthly so maybe get a year of one of them, read everything you want to read and then switch. MU has a 3 month wait for new comics. I think the DC one is a lot more user friendly.
I'm actually doing a buddy read on DCI with 2 friends now. We're reading the old Invasion! event.

I am new to the group and have just started exploring the world of comics/graphic novels! I am open to all DC/Marvel comic recommendations as those are my primary interest. I look forward to talking to some of you:)

Welcome to Max, Grace, and Luke!
Sounds like you all have great taste in comics :)
Be sure to stop by the "What are you reading this month?" threads and share what you've been reading! <3

I'm from Czech republic, and I like Star wars, Marvel and DC. I'm also a big fan of some "local" czech comic series.
I'm currently reading Justice League, 2011 series by Geoff Johns.
Some of my favourite comic characters are: Kyle Rayner, Spiderman Noir (fun fact: he's the reason why I'm called "Noir"), John Constantine, Clint Barton, Scott Summers and Remy LeBeau.
I'm looking foward to talk and to "meet" some of you.

Welcome, Noir! Would love to hear some of your recommendations on some Czech comics!

I live in Brussels and I collect & read as many old & new comics in as many languages as I can!
I love paper so the only thing I do here (Goodreads, Instagram & Youtube) is show & tell about them.
Reading comics is an addictive experience : I forget time, myself and all awaiting obligations, pure bliss actually.
So, that's my story, hope we can discover many great comics together !

When I'm not writing, I'm an avid reader with a diverse taste, ranging from spiritual literature to contemporary fiction. I'm always excited to discover new authors and genres, and I can't wait to engage with all of you here. Let's connect and share our love for comic books!
I am looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Anyways, I appreciate being accepted into the group and can’t wait to connect with more people!

My name is Guilherme, but you can call me Gui, I'm from Brazil.
2025 is the year for me going back to my "nerd reader" side, I wanna read more independ Comics, the ones who talk about deep feelings and blablabbla.
Right now i'm starting "It's Lonely At The Centre Of The Earth", and i'ts pretty good!

Welcome, Guilherme! I enjoyed that one - have you checked out any of Zoe Thorogood's other work? Sometimes her lettering can be hard to read though!

I'm reading all those Mad Cave comics except for Dick Tracy. That character just never has appealed to me. Just finished Jack Kirby's Eternals and all his Fourth World comics the last couple of months too.

I’ve been into movies, books and comics since I was little and ended up graduating w a lit studies degree a couple years ago. I love books and comics of a wideeeee spectrum! As far as comics go, the collection is always growing and it’s just a matter of getting around to reading them among the stacks of media I overwhelm myself over picking one to start lol ….
As a kid my favorite comic/graphic novel was Bone by Jeff Smith.
For a while my favorites have been anything to do with the X-Men. Though my want-to-read pile is filled with all sorts of things in the Marvel universe, DC universe, and a sprinkle of Titan and Image as well. Right now I’m really into completing Mike Johnson’s Blade Runner trilogy (2019, 29 & 39)…love comics that lean toward distopia/dark/gothic or cyber futuristic atm! So Batman is a fairly new liking of mine as well.
Thanks! Look forward to being here

Bone is such a terrific book. I went back and reread it last year when I found the library had an omnibus copy of the entire thing.
It's always nice to find another X-Men reader. Their convoluted history seems to turn most new readers off these days. The first comic I ever bought was Uncanny X-Men #140. (I'm old.)
Have you read Lazarus or East of West? Those are two of my favorite dystopian future comics that come to instant mind.

Yes, I love X-Men but I admit the comic history is pretty overwhelming and something I still strive to have a better understanding of. I've mostly read stuff of the 21st century as far as X-Men goes but I own some older comics as well -- I am in a perpetual, ever gradual deep dive into the huge world that is X-Men.
No, I have not yet read Lazarus or East of West but I've heard of them both while inquiring at the comic shops. I'll definitely add them to my list; I'm very much into this sort of thing right now. Appreciate the recommendation!

Hallo! I am Em, I am from Georgia U.S, I like reading super hero comics, fiction, and sci-fi. My favorite comics are: The New Warriors/Speedball, Squirrel Girl, and Spiderman. I read mostly Marvel comics but I am open to reading anything and almost everything. And I am new to reading and collecting comics.

If you haven't read the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic, it's really good. Pete is married to MJ and they have two kids and he becomes Spider-Man at the beginning of the comic. It's my favorite Spider-Man comic since the Dan Slott era.

Plus, if you’re into the same stuff too, I'm very interested in what you're reading also, and could always use new people to talk about books with

I review most of what I read and would love some more engagement so feel free to check out my profile, then add and follow me to keep up with my reviews

I'm Matt from the SF bay area but currently living in Japan.
I've been reading comics off all types, and in various languages, since I was about 7.
I'll read or try just about anything.
Heroes are my nostalgia kick. I love a good slice of life such as Giant Days. Lumberjanes is my feel good book. Tons of classic Manga from the 60's-90's in particular. If I ever bump into Takahashi Rumiko, I'm definitely going to buy her a beer.
Sandman and other Vertigo books will also forever hold a special place in my heart...(man I need to go and re-read those now!) The list goes on and on! Good to meet you folks!

hey, i'm new too. I'll take a look :)

I used to collect individual issues but now I wait for the trades or something to become available at the library. I’d like to get more into Marvel/DC but I’m more interested in their contained stories than their long ongoing ones.
