Dave (adh3) | 779 comments I have been reading the first of that set Marcelita: "Dawn of the Belle Epoque The Paris of Monet, Zola, Bernhardt, Eiffel, Debussy, Clemenceau, and Their Friends"

I'm sure I will get to the second volume, it is quite good. I really like getting the feel for what Paris was like in Proust's time.

That's a great snippet Marcelita. Have you read the whole book? It looks interesting.

I just noticed that the author also wrote 'The Dawn of the Belle Epoque' as well, which is a book I want to read as it partly covers Zola and the period in which 'Swann in Love' takes place.

No, but I put these "finds" on my wish list, when I go to The Strand bookstore.
It's amazing what I have gathered by chance...both in the initial discovery and then finding the actual book.
