I don't quite get why Peeves would be dropping water balloons on the kids when they're already wet. Where's the fun in that? lol

It's mentioned that Nearly Headless Nick is a different ruff than he normally is which begs the question - how can a ghost change clothes?

They are wizards, so they can make things bigger on the inside (hehehe, like a TARDIS) and would hence have enough room for sleeping and studying and all that jazz. Tbh, this is the first thing that came to my mind when I read your question, so the thought must have already been somewhere in the back of my mind.
