I liked Reckoners and found Lift annoying after awhile... but like her ability to interact with spren since she is partially in the Cognitive Realm...

I remembered about (view spoiler) but I didn't think that meant all of B4.

“There came also sixteen of the order of Windrunners, and with them a considerable number of squires, and finding in that place the Skybreakers dividing the innocent from the guilty, there ensued a great debate.”

There's that epigraph, Teft's comments at the end of WoR, and one of Dalinar's visions...

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Okay, I do remember something about that now. Thanks!

Nice quote. The one downside to doing the audio is you can't go back and cross reference the start of the chapter comments and quotes which do add up to a lot of information.

I listened to the audiobooks as well actually... luckily Sanderson has a big fanbase...

https://coppermind.net/wiki/The_Way_o...
https://coppermind.net/wiki/Words_of_...

Those links contain every epigraph from the 2 books... they are a goldmine of information...

You can literally SEE the Death Rattles coming to pass:

“They come from the pit, two dead men, a heart in their hands, and I know that I have seen true glory.” Kakashah 1173, 13 seconds pre-death. A rickshaw puller. -- Way of Kings, Chapter 64

Words of Radiance: Kaladin and Shallan returning from the chasms after the storm with the gemheart and the gloryspren that appear...

I think the letter in full context are even more telling. I had pieced together a lot of their meaning but reading the correspondence in full was very enlightening.

Tracy-lee (ithinksoiam) | 3 comments Hello, I just joined this group. I am so excited to read this book! I live in a small town in Germany and I have had to get them to order it in for me because I’m Australian and unfortunately my German isn’t THAT good! I can not tell you how glad I am to see so many people who also love this series! Did you all reread the previous books before starting on this one? I am not sure if I can wait haha

Some people have been re-reading over the last few months... others (like me) just read them for the first time over the past few months... not sure how I'll survive waiting for book 4 in 2020-ish...

Sounds like you joined the right group...

Solseit | 1516 comments The best thing I did all day was pre-purchase the book. The delivery is a little later than Nov 14 (like 10 days!!!) but I will be purchasing the audiobook (hopefully out on Nov 14 also in Europe) so I can enjoy right away. Assuming I will be finished with Words of Radiance by then!

Miche | 3279 comments I just finished my reread of WoK and WoR. I am rereading Edgedancer this weekend.

For Oathbringer, I pre-ordered a signed hardcover, an ebook and the audiobook. I may have gone a bit overboard, lol. ;)

I just listened to Edgedancer for the first time yesterday and today... the last step in my Oathbringer prep...

I find Lift equal parts annoying and hilarious... so much happened in what was a "novella"... didn't seem very skippable...

I can only handle Lift in small segments. I hope if she gets a major part in one of the main books, and per BS it appears she will, I hope her character matures a little. I don't think I can hack 1200 pages of her dietary novelties and calling everybody a voidbringer. I do admit her messing with Dalinar, Kaladin, Adolin.....or somebody else who takes themselves seriously could be pretty funny. I think Jasnah might kill her just to shut her up.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5388 comments Ok, I've been avoiding this thread like the plague since I wasn't reading the Tor Chapters, but with the book release tomorrow I started reading the chapters last night and now can't wait to participate again :-) Happy Oathbringer Eve!

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I thought about doing that but then figured, eh, I've waited this long...

A lot of us are waiting. We enjoy the experience of just opening a new book for the first time..and just diving in from the beginning. Something of a let down if I get a book and then I"m going 1/3 into it already.

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments There is definitely something special about opening the new book for the first time. I could start on Kindle or Audio, but I'm going to wait til I get home from work tomorrow so I can experience everything fresh, and enjoy opening the box haha ;].

Yes midnight. I was hoping it would be Australian midnight. :)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5388 comments I ordered the hardcover but really I'm a kindle girl. I keep the hardcovers so I can get them signed at JordanCon but I'm sending the Tor chapters to my kindle since that's my preferred reading method anyway.

message 186: by Rob (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments My hardcover (along with Deadhouse Landing) are both coming directly to work tomorrow morning, so I may be a bit behind you all from the start. If they had whispersync ready to go on releaes date, I might've gone that way instead. Still may get the audio from kobo at midnight since I have a credit with them.

Absolutely.

I stopped by a local B&N store today because sometimes they put out a book a day early so I was hoping maybe I'd see Oathbringer on the shelf. No such luck.

"Length: 55 hrs and 2 mins"

Maybe wikipedia is right and this IS 450k words... how are they gonna make a paperback edition if the Hardcover is 1250 pages...

Isn't the UK and some other countries already splitting the Hardcover in 2 because of binding issues?

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments Couldn't wait. subscribed to Kobo and got oathbringer for free on audio. Away we go when I should be sleeping :)

Georgiana Inggrid | 1 comments That color map though. <3

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments Yeah in Poland it's gonna be split up. 1 part comes out on the 22.11 and the 2 part some time in January which personally I think fucking sucks!;(

Solseit | 1516 comments I keep hitting refresh fornite audiobook but no luck so far. I am excited for those how have started reading!
