Solseit | 1516 comments I just checked the audiobook is available now - since about 10 minutes.
I would expect the (kindle) book to hit at the same time!

BTW even the audio for audible is split into 5 sections. I've never seen that before with Audible and I've listened to some massive books.

In my audible experience, it is very common - also Book #1 and #2 of The Stormlight Archive were split in 5 or even 6 parts.
And it it not limited to Sanderson's stories (I have it on Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb, Mirror Sighy by Kristen Britain, The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, and I could continue).

My copies of the first two books are all in one part. All of the Wheel of Time books which are massive are one file. Since you've experienced it differently I'm wondering if that's an Audible setting and if I unknowingly changed my preferences. I'll have to look into it further.

Let me know if it is a setting - at this point setting might be the correct answer for the difference in set-up. I am also buying on Audible Global (as well as my local Audible) and the experience is the same on both. Curiosity!

RuinEleint Might as well start it. I was hoping to get DL first, but I guess I will just parallel read them.

I did what I do... I pulled up the POVs on the Part # headers... there are ALOT this time round... (view spoiler) so it's a bit more spoilery than when I checked like this in WoR

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments My hardcover is shipping and due to arrive this afternoon. Been looking forward to this one.

Solseit | 1516 comments I have to say that the group hype for this book is uncanny. I cannot recall I have seen it for any other book!

You're like a spoiler addict.

I'm picking up my copy at lunch.

I solved the late release in Europe by buying the audiobook on Audible. Just think this as a possibility if you can, it might help :D
Yet, we get some advantages when the books are first released in the UK :D

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments Ive tried audiobooks but it just doesn't work well with me unfortunately. I'll have to tough it out I guess. This sucks major ass

Solseit | 1516 comments Jarek "the Mistborn" wrote: "Ive tried audiobooks but it just doesn't work well with me unfortunately. I'll have to tough it out I guess. This sucks major ass"

I also noticed that Kindle in Europe has the book available today - the whole thing, in case that is something else for you! And I might be repetitive, you might have already considered all of the above; yet I understand the struggle and I love, just love, paper copies but that does not work all the times!

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments Yes my love for paper copies will be my downfall someday;)

What's a little international travel when Sanderson novels are involved?

message 223: by Ahdam (new) - added it

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I hear you jarek it's same here in the uk with the first 2 book split in 2 parts (way of kings was released in full later on) and there was no way I was getting 5 book so I went on book depository to get the American edition which looks amazing although the downside is that word of radiance is smaller than way of kings which is annoying

I'm actually considering getting oathbringer through book depository so I get the us edition because I rather have an inconsistent paperback/hardback rather than 2 entirely different editions 😂😂

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments Luckily the polish editions and covers are pretty awesome:)

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments U can c the part 1 cover on that link

message 227: by Ahdam (new) - added it

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Ok that is pretty cool I really like different publishing companies takes on certain books as the UK editions of sanderson book are done by the same artist and they have that feeling that your reading a book by Brandon sanderson which is pretty cool

And I think remember seeing some Japanese covers of the riyria revelations somewhere but I remember how cool they looked hundred times better than the normal ones

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments Ugh. still haven't gotten my physical copy. Usually, UPS delivers by 10 am. I think I'll order takeout and listen to the audibook while I walk :)

Solseit | 1516 comments I am rushing through Edgedancer so I can quickly resume reading Oathbringer!
Almost there!

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 408 comments This must be the most waited out book on this group:)

message 232: by Ahdam (new) - added it

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I may wait till the end of November to get it so I can have the series signed by Brandon when he goes touring (trying to hold it all in)

But I must say this is probably the only book that so many people in this group is hyped up for its amazing

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments Quick question.

Do I need to read Edgedancer first? I meant to but didn't get time before today

message 234: by C.P. (new) - added it

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Mine is waiting at home! Now I just have to make it until the end of work. I might head out just a bit early...

Solseit | 1516 comments In the preface of Oathbringer, Sanderson suggested to read it.
I am not sure it really makes a difference but I am sure it helps to better understand certain dynamics.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I'll be starting tonight too.

message 238: by Liam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I would recommend reading Edgedancer as well. Not essential, but certainly some important plot points in there.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments I suppose I can still read ED first - I have it at home. It's not like I'll be able to keep up with anyone in the group anyway :)

That said, I got an email saying Oathbringer was delivered at the house....

message 240: by Rob (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments AGGGGGH! Amazon's warehouse had a SNAFU. I only ordered the thing like the second it was available (along with Deadhouse Landing) on Amazon over a year ago for the date of release of delivery. I have to wait until tomorrow to get my hands on it. Fortunately, though it pays to complain. I went into chat on Amazon and they issued me a $10 credit. So silver lining and a note to everyone having any delivery issues.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments I ordered from Amazon as well. Thankfully there were no issues and it is sitting at home waiting for me. :) Sorry you didn't get it yet, but at least they gave you some credit back!

And I do have it in audio. Too bad my commute isn't longer :)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5388 comments I signed up for audible just so I could get this book. Will cancel my subscription this month, hehe. I'm glad I did cuz my hard cover still hasn't arrived. Already on Chapter 4.

Solseit | 1516 comments I am through chapter 7 - it is exciting to see the characters return to their natural environment!

I needed sleep :(... Maintenance woke me up banging on door... Today is the beginning of my weekend tho, so I'll read all night tonight and tomorrow... might finish before I go back to work on Thursday... I'll just reiterate what these other people said about Edgedancer... Sanderson suggested reading it in the preface of this... and said in the endnote of Edgedancer that the goal was to show some events that would have happened off-page for Lift and "Darkness", otherwise, by the time they next appeared in the main series books...

Chris, you should read Edgedancer first, or you might be confused by the actions of some characters at Oathbringer.

@miche: If that turns out to be true, that's truly Machiavellian... probably won't find out one way or another until book 5 (when I expect we'll finally get Gavilar's POV of the night)

I really like how at each book we are getting a different pov from the same event, with the culmination of Gavilar's. :)
