Wordpress, Wix, and Weebly all have free options :) As does Blogger, but it's not my personal fave.

one.com if you need affordable website

- $8.25/mo for your own domain.
http://www.wix.com/upgrade/premium-plans
- $9.75/mo, which includes your own domain.
wix has an integration w/a backend payment system; wordpress does not; that is, you have to roll your own w/plugins or something. it might not be that hard, but i haven't tried it.

Thank you that's reasonable...I would love a very cool weird eye catching website but that's not in the budget... Maybe someday.

Google: free website templates

ah. didn't know that. then, yes, that is the better option.

Don't believe iPage. I use them now and they charge for domain names. Then you can use wordpress. I would not recommend Weebly. I had a blog for a while using them and it did not work well.
The best hosting experience I had was with Blue Host.
Good luck!

I got independent webhosting through host gator, which has one-click wordpress installation, and I can do what I like with my site.
It's not free, but it's pretty cheap.

Have used WordPress for years. Most decent host companies offer free installation.

My site is here for an example. I just filled in boxes for About the Book, About the Author, the price, and the rest is generated for me. You don't have to deal with HTML at all. Even the new Table of Contents is regenerated each time I publish an update to my book.
I like Leanpub myself, but then I'm familiar with Markdown.
