Hope (littlehope) | 82 comments So I just finished the first two stories, The Voices of Reason and The Witcher, and realized it is essentially the prologue to the first Witcher game. (view spoiler) I'm glad I had played the first game (I haven't played 2 and 3 yet) because it helped me vision some of the things in the story. I am curious about people who have not played the games thoughts on it.

Joyce (eternity21) | 198 comments This book is making me want to start playing Witcher on my PlayStation. Have to find it.

Ryne | 68 comments It had the opposite effect for me because I'd heard about the events in Witcher 2 and reading them brought more context to what I'd known.

Hope (littlehope) | 82 comments I have not played the Witcher 2 yet, but hopefully I can soon.

Daryl | 101 comments Having played both Witcher 2 and 3, I have an inherent fondness and bias towards the books. Witcher 3 is now one of my favorite games of all time and it left an emotional mark upon me (tears when the credits rolled on the final expansion, Blood and Wine).

That said, I didn't love this first collection of stories but did enjoy it. The author was clearly starting to find his way and improved with the 2nd collection, Sword of Destiny.

Trike | 11211 comments As I was reading the first story I kept thinking, "Man, this is REALLY familiar." It was because of that opening cinematic from the first game. They could have done a better job adapting it because it didn't entice me to play the game, but rewatching it after reading it made me appreciate the cinematic more.

Brendan (mistershine) | 930 comments I got about a third of the way into game 1 before abandoning it. I bought game 2 in some steam sale but have never played it, fair chance i never will. I definitely remembered this cinematic though.
