ladymurmur | 934 comments That was fun!!! I'm always surprised to find out how much I actually read. :-)

The Scoop:
✓ Number of days/hours spent reading - 10 days/24 hours.
✓ Number and/or list of books read - 5 books
Haunting Mr. Darcy - A Spirited Courtship by KaraLynne Mackrory Smoke and Shadows (Tony Foster #1) by Tanya Huff Touched (The Marnie Baranuik Files #1) by A.J. Aalto American Gods by Neil Gaiman Once Broken Faith (October Daye, #10) by Seanan McGuire
✓ Number of pages read - according to the goodreads entries for the books: 2,213 pages

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? - Fun. Tried not to focus extra time on reading purely for this challenge, but it did make staying up the little bit longer to read just a few more pages that much more sweetly indulgent. :-)

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? Participated in a few of these now, and I'll definitely do it again.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? Not this year. I read whatever caught my fancy when a new title was needed.

✓ Did you have a favorite, quiet reading spot? Snuggled in bed.

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? ebook.

Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? This year I found it hard to do an 8 hr stint, I kept getting distracted. I think next yr I'll break it down to the 2 - 7 hrs one.

Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? Not Applicable, I do it every yr.

Did you choose RAT books in advance? I set aside possibles, then read some of them & found others that I had to read asap.

Did you have a favorite, quiet reading spot? Lounge room couch.

Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? Yep I did. I just had to knuckle down & get it done.

Did you discover a new series, author or genre? I'll keep reading Alpha City series, first bk was Obsessions (Alpha City #1) by Bryce Evans

Did you read alone or with partner? Alone

Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Kindle, ebook & paperback.

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?
It was fun to do the reading, a little tough to remember to keep track of my hours

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once is enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
This is my first RaT that lasted an entire month. I did enjoy it and I will participate again.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside?
No, I didn't choose books in advance. I just read whatever I needed to read for challenges.

✓ Did you have a favorite, quiet reading spot?
I mostly read on my porch swing outside, in my recliner in the living room or in bed. Except for the reading I snuck in at work.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
I discovered that it is tough to get 8 hours of uninterrupted reading. I did do one 24 hour period in 8 hour chunks, but the rest were smaller. Especially if it's a work week, there's just not enough time in the day.
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
I read a lot of new series books this month. Most of them, I plan to continue.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner? always alone

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats? only kindle books (it's all I read now)

I did find it fun, wish I had more time though.

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once is enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
This is my fourth year? I think, love the September RAT. I look forward to it, wish there was one in the first half of the year too. Maybe March or April?

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside?
I didn't really.

✓ Did you have a favorite, quiet reading spot?
In bed :)

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
I found it easier once I switched to Audio, otherwise I was only getting 15 minutes here and there, which didn't count towards the total.

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
None worth mentioning.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
All by myself

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
Mostly Audio, with a little kindle time. I was hoping to do a full 24hours on both, but things didn't quite work out that way. Next time! ;)

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? Always fun to read

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once is enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare? This was not my first and I would love to do it again!

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? I had books picked out to read that went with other challenges but did not read a single one of them.

✓ Did you have a favorite, quiet reading spot? I like to read propped up in the corner of my sofa with a cat or two on my lap.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it? I generally read every day but real life steps in at times. My sister was in the hospital and I spent a lot of time reading while she was having tests or sleeping.

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre? I read quite a bit of books outside of my general comfort zone. Some were authors that I read years ago and just drifted away from. Those books were brought to me from friends that felt I should read them.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner? Alone

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats? A couple of ebooks then mostly hardcover. For some reason the hardcover books were more comforting to me when I was reading in the hospital. Something about the weight of the book and the turning of the pages.

NOTE: The Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers by Margaret George was a re-read(re-read, re-read...) for me. It is my go to book every few years to revisit. I always learn something new each time I read it. My original copy is falling apart so this time around I read a new copy that made it all seem fresh.

Oh yeah, had to. We had Cafe Beignet's, not du Monde's. Yummy! :9

message 17: by Raquel (Rocki) (new)

Raquel (Rocki) (raquelrocki) | 1005 comments Yes! Cafe Beignet's the best! I haven't tried du Mondae's but I heard if you like them crunchy a little bit go to Cafe Beignet's so that is where we went because I usually like things with a bit of a crunch and they were sooooo good plus it was closer. I forgot we could post pictures I should do that. I took so many.

message 18: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments Vivian tried beignets at both. I liked the ones we had and knew I'd never be able to eat three more, so we skipped Monde's.
