Shaheer Henderson | 0 comments I've tried to introduce myself properly, so allow me to introduce myself. I am Shaheer Henderson I've been an author for 3 months now and I look for to learning more about being an author. In addition, I seek to learn about story writing, the structure of writing, and building a story. Sometimes, we ravel in things and we come out unraveled. Thus, I look to ravel in things and come out structured.

message 18: by Larry (last edited Aug 09, 2016 11:04AM) (new)

Larry Farmer | 2 comments thanks. I love history and such. Psychology. I read very much of this. But I prefer to write novels over non-fiction. It's been said you can tell the truth more through fiction, and I don't mean political double talk type fiction, but as genre of writing. Novels let you get so much more personal and in depth. To give a falsehood like Columbus discovered America in 1959 will get you eternal disrespect and finish you off. But in novels I must get my historical facts straight just like a historian, but I get to include love stories or alter a particular setting perhaps for poetic license, then tell the gist of what really happened in a personalized way. So I love history but write it in novels. To have lived the stagings preceding the Marcos overthrow and then to have witnessed the People's Power Revolution itself or the landing of Sadat in Jerusalem, and to not relate this to people is impossible for me. I have to tell people or die you might say. But not just talk about it. Relate it. Feelings, fears, aftermaths. All these years later no one knows of the most dramatic and overwhelming overthrow of a dictator in history, the masses of Filipino citizens unarmed and singing about Jesus confronting soldiers, helicopters, and Army tanks. And I saw it and lived it. It just seemed a crime for people not to know this. So I wrote a novel and The Wild Rose Press published it, I WILL BE THE ONE. Thank God. Now to get the word out.

Liyana Yamin (liyanayamin) | 2 comments Hello from Malaysia! I'm Liyana binti Yamin, a research assistant from University of Malaya. I grew up with books thanks to my supportive dad that never get bored with my enthusiasm in reading books.

I have always enjoyed self development books. I joined Goodreads with the aspiration to monitor my reading progress. I wish to learn to review books and put it up on my blog. Oh yeah - I love writing a little bit here and there in my blog to improve my writing skills. Looking forward for inspirations from others.

Great to be here, thanks for the approval! :)

message 20: by Shaheer (new)

Shaheer Henderson | 0 comments Thank you Michele and Julia. Michele to answer your three questions. 1. It feels great become a published author, because I worked so hard to get my work out there. In addition, I always wanted to share my stories with others, so this is an experience I've been waiting for. 2. My next book is going to be called, "Murder In Hartsville" now it's not complete, but ya'll are the first to see the title. 3. Writing children's books can be difficult, because the material has to fit the audience. Thus, for you to reach them, you must bring out your inner child. I hope this helps.

message 21: by Carletha (new)

Carletha Brown | 2 comments Hello, I am Carletha AKA Desiree, the author of A CRY FOR HELP/WHO'S LISTENING? I am also new at this, I decided in 2014 to write my autobiography. I am in the process of writing my second book. I enjoy writing, but will read more. At 60 I just received my high school diploma and graduated May 26, 2016. One of the best days of my life. At this moment I'm continuing my education and writing at the same time. Thank you all for the book titles to read and I promise I will get to reading again as soon as possible.

message 22: by Denise (new)

Denise Solomon | 1 comments Greetings to all! I had a career of 32 years as a Financial Analyst, working in mainly in Healthcare. I was blessed to do a very, very early retirement, in 2015. I am the author of a book that was just published: Life is a Faithwalk. I am currently in the throws of setting up marketing plans, book signings and let’s start a blog and get signed up for Facebook while I’m at it. Wow – that was a trip!

Facebook is daunting! I wonder if there’s a Facebook for Dummies book? How late am I exactly? Eight or nine years? I don’t even know.

I do a lot of research from YouTube and like to share of crazy events happening over the world. (I recently told a group about a Satanic church opening in Texas and they were shocked)

Happy to be a part of this group.

message 23: by Zorina (new)

Zorina | 24 comments Hello to you all! Again :.) my name is
Zorina Payne Jacobsen.
I am a mother of 5.
Three year old triplets, seven year old daughter,
soon to be 14, year old son.

There's so much more to the story,
when people are being bullied.
I have seen many negative results
in a bullying situation 1st and 2nd hand.

I decided to write my own stories. (Fiction)
My first book is now published.

Bullied and Shadowed Abuse.

It's now available at Amazon & Barnes and Noble.
Teens will love it.
Parents will love it. Also if you love to read you will finish it faster than you hoped. Sorry but it's a real page turner.
After I had my triplets, I realized that I couldn't wait until they turn 18 to become an Author. I write everyday and now I'm going to online school to learn much more.

I'm so happy I joined this group❤️

Corine (coriner) | 1 comments HI, I'm Corine. I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa.
I'm a mom of 2 wild little boys, so not always time to read, but I try my best. I love reading and exploring new authors.

I had a nervous breakdown about a year ago and ended up in hospital, but things are slowly getting back to normal.

I joined this group to make some new friends and find some new authors. Thanks for the opportunity

I'm a mother of two girls and working as a visual artist. Reading is a hobby I'm picking up again after years of not much reading, due to having no concentration left after taking care of children ;-) That gets better now and I hope the great reading vibe here is contagious.

message 32: by David (new)

David Thorndill | 3 comments Hi. My name is David and I watched Oprah when she was a newscaster in Baltimore a long time ago. At that time I never thought I would write anything. I read mostly historical books, but a few years ago I caught the writing bug and wrote short stories and three award winning feature screenplays. Not many people read screenplays, but they are fun to write, just 90-120 loose pages for a feature movie. They contain only location, action and dialogue. The reader imagines the rest. Amazon has published "The Last Vikings", a fictional adventure/love/family story about 15th century Greenlandic Vikings fleeing the Little Ice Age and sailing to America. If this is successful I would like to publish "Tales from the Confessional", a collection of fictional stories narrated by Catholic priests. Wish me luck.
