Elodie | 21 comments Hi, all! I'm currently working on my first novel and I have difficulties categorizing it. The story takes place in the year 2080, includes action, suspense, crime, and hot romance/erotica.
As there are only 2 categories I can choose from when uploading on KDP, I want to make sure that I reach the right target group with my title/cover, so I thought about adding something like “Title (A novel)”.
And this is where I need your help: “A Dystopian Hot Romance”, “A Hot Dystopian Romance”, or something else entirely?
It’s important to me that the reader knows that they’ll be confronted with a futuristic/SciFi story but I want to reach the female audience with the romance/erotica part.
Thanks in advance!

Annie Arcane (anniearcane) Hiiii!

*friendly wave*

The SciFi aspect is way outta my realm but I think "A Hot Dystopian Romance" sounds best of those two choices :)

Hugs,
Ann

Gina Salamon | 12 comments Hey Elodie:

I've found, and heard from other authors, that Amazon categories can be an issue and suggest that once you publish you consider changing categories periodically. In other words, start with the two categories you think best suit your book (from what you've said I'm thinking romance/erotica and maybe sci-fi/fantasy) and after a month or more, try switching to some other categories that still suit but may bring you new readers.

Best of luck.
