Talltree | 5 comments My daughter and I love to read her books together! She is a sunny 11 and enjoys reading books with female protagonists in the 8-12 range who have adventures, solve mysteries, use magic and who are proactive.

I'm looking for a children's fiction book to read and review for her school assignment where there also has to be a short interview of the author along with the book review...any suggestions?

Talltree | 5 comments Thanks Floryie, that sounds wonderful and right up my kid's alley! Maybe I could even reach out to the author to see if he'd be willing to answer a few questions for the obligatory interview, thanks!!

Lenita Sheridan | 1010 comments I've written a book (or books) that would fit your requirements and would be glad to do an interview. My website is http://lenitasheridan.com. The first book is titled Guardian of the Gauntlet. The books are all in the Guardian of the Gauntlet trilogy. They are about a young princess, Camari, and her adventures with a special gauntlet that only works if one has faith in a higher power. If you are interested, you can email me at [email protected].

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) Try Rick Riordan, though I'm not sure about the interview part. There are three main peeps and one's a girl.

Ju Ephraime (juephraime) | 96 comments Just so you have another option in the event you have to go that route again. I have a series of children's books, Too-Clever. Some of my protagonists are girls and some are boys. My latest is a girl, Too-Clever X: Megan's Troublesome Pronouns. Check out what the reviewer at Readers' Favorite had to say about the book. The series has won several awards: https://readersfavorite.com/book-revi...

Let me know, I'm available for the interview. Also, my children's books are not in ebook format-- hardbacks and paperbacks.

Beverly | 3 comments One Crazy Summer (Gaither Sisters, #1) by Rita Williams-Garcia P.S. Be Eleven (Gaither Sisters, #2) by Rita Williams-Garcia Gone Crazy in Alabama (Gaither Sisters, #3) by Rita Williams-Garcia This is one of the best series to come along in many years. I do book talks and lead book groups for 10 - 12 year olds from all over Oregon . These books are always a big hit. Rita Williams-Garcia is on twitter and always graciously and quickly responded to the questions and comments readers sent her.

Beverly | 3 comments Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson This is another great novel featuring a strong female protagonist. Laurie Halse Anderson is also very active on Twitter and she has a blog where she answers questions from readers. You can link to the blog from your goodreads account.

Oh thanks so much Lenita for getting back to us. I checked out the book blurb and it sounds wonderful!! Just so suitable.

I've downloaded the book on Amazon and once my kid has finished reading it, will put out a review there. And if you don't mind , I'll send over a mail now with a few questions, the answers don't have to be superlong, just a few lines should be more than fine, thanks again for your time:)

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 280 comments Joseph Lexxus and the Drug Runners of Altair (Joseph Lexxus #1) by John Bowers If your 11-year-old likes science fiction, try Joseph Lexxus and the Drug Runners of Altair by John Bowers. The main characters are teenagers. Think "Hardy Boys in space" (I stole that from one of the GR reviews).

I think a sharp 11-year-old should be able to enjoy it.

P.S. Gear | 1 comments Charlotte Gnoll (The Rock Rose Path Book 1) by P.S.W. Gear

Hey, a friend suggested this thread . My book Charlotte Gnoll is about an 8-year-old girl who travels to magical world in order to save her dad. There's a lot of magic involved and even some Welsh words that you and your daughter can try pronouncing together :)

Even if it doesn't work for your school project, maybe you would both enjoy in the future.

Cheers!

Lenita, No worries, we managed to get answers from another author. However my kid did love your book. She said it was " unputdownable, thrilling" , she finished it in one go and wants to get the other books. She also found "the witch's character quite interesting". I've been meaning to review it, will do it soon!

Thank you Floryie! Aaron has been kind enough to answer my kid's questions and they're great. Her teacher loved them:) its all been a great and interesting experience for her!

Julie Anderson | 51 comments Hi Talltree,

My historical novel 'Reconquista' came out in April and I'll forward an 'e' copy to you if you would like. It was at Number 5 on Amazon YA Historical for a while. I'm not sure if you will think it suitable - it was written for a twelve year old, originally and, because it's set in war-time there is some violence ( but absolutely no sex ). Check it out on my web-site http://www.thestorybazaar.com/the-al-... and let me know. I'm happy to answer questions either direct or via Goodreads. Julie

I came across the series as an adult, but loved it.
It includes all kinds of fae, lots of adventure, and a very sweet (clean) romance. :)
