The City as a character (need recommendations!)

Peter (jimmyshelter) | 2 comments For me one of the great features of New Weird is the city as a character.

Starting with Viriconium from M. John Harrison, going through China Miéville's New Corbuzon, till Jeff VanderMeer's Ambergris, the city is a main character is a lot of the New Weird. It should have been called Urban Fantasy, if that genre name wasn't already taken by dark romance/contemporary fantasy.

So, I visited Viriconium, New Corbuzon, Ambergris, Ashamoil (from The Etched City), Ararat (Thunderer, Tabat (Beasts of Tabat) and I want to travel more!

Which (New Weird) cities should I visit next?
