hi! this is a buddy read for Roald Dahl's the witches. so far it's me & Kate but anyone can join us. we are starting Monday, the 22nd.

Oh, I might be able to join in this one. I've started reading it to my girls and I'd like to finish it before their school year starts in September!

I haven't started yet but will try and get a few chapters in today.

I'm quarter of the way through and enjoying it so far. I think Miranda Richardson is amazing doing the narration.

Omg! I love Miranda but she gave me a headache. It took me a minute to adjust to the high witches voice. She just call them lazy bitches?! :p I think the granny in this book should hang out with the granny in Krampus cause it seems they like to scare the hell out of their grandchildren. Lol, but I really am enjoying this so far.

I seriously can't understand what she's saying when she's doing the grand high witch.

Lol, don't be too hard on her, I almost lost my voice trying to do the voices for the witches when I was reading it to my kids :)

I'm gonna finish it up on my drive home later and probably watch the movie tomorrow. I really like this one, more than I did bfg but I did like it too.

Wish I could have read this one but u all did inspire me to watch the movie with my kids. They loved it just as much as I did and still do;)

I had to work late tonight but I'm going to watch the movie tomorrow. I haven't seen it in YEARS.

It's good. I had to rent it from Amazon.

I've only seen parts of the movie so I'll need to watch it as well once I've finished the audiobook.

I just finished this(view spoiler)[I thought it was sad when the grandson was telling the grandmother that he wasn't bothered about dying in a few years time as she would also be dying and they could still be together. Bless (hide spoiler)]
I enjoyed this and was laughing out loud at some of the parts. Although Miranda Richardsons' high witch voice was a bit much I think she did an amazing job with this.

I'm glad they included the little girl in the painting in the movie. That reminded me of M.R. James' The Mezzotint, which I love and find so terrifying. I love seeing this story's impact on other entertainment. The first thing that comes to mind is Hocus Pocus- "I smell children!!! But if uses if I constantly smelled dog droppings, I'd be a hateful old child hating witch too. My nose is too sensitive for that bs!

Finished the book with my girls today, very cute. I'll have to get us the movie next!

I wonder if Bruno Jenkins is related to HPL's Brown Jenkin? Lol :p

I always loved this book and enjoyed the movie when it came out. Fun
