Rein Scott | 6 comments Hi, I'm Rein. I've been listening to audiobooks for several years. It all began when my husband bought me a membership to Audible for Christmas several years ago. I was instantly in love! I have always wanted to read books, but I lack the time to devote to it. However, I love that I can listen to audio in the car or doing things around the house. I mostly listen to romance.
I'm a teacher by day and an aspiring writier by ... um, well when I have time. Between teaching, homeschooling my daughter, and spending time with the family, I haven't been able to devote as much time as I like. But, it's coming along.
Some audiobooks I love: Honor Student (Honor, #1) by Teresa Mummert Honor Thy Teacher (Honor, #2) by Teresa Mummert Honor and Obey (Honor, #3) by Teresa Mummert Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno, #1) by Sylvain Reynard Gabriel's Rapture (Gabriel's Inferno, #2) by Sylvain Reynard Gabriel's Redemption (Gabriel's Inferno, #3) by Sylvain Reynard And, basically anything by Abbi Glines
I'm always looking for suggestions of good books to listen to!

Mari (marismutduchess) My name is Mari and I've been listening to audio books for years. Lately I prefer them over reading. I love that many of my favorite books are whispersynced. I've been able to expand my audio library to nearly 600 titles. :-)

Micker | 14 comments Hi I am Micker,

I started listening audiobooks about a year and half ago after I had a head injury and wasn't able to read. In the past year and half I have listened to over 300 books, most of which were new adult romance and I am totally addicted.

My favourite authors are: Robyn York, Samantha Young (On Dublin Street Series), Kylie Scott (Stage Dive Series), most books by KA Tucker, Jamie McGuire, Vi Keeland, Penny Reid, and Alice Clayton. I tend to gravitate to books with smart sassy heroines.

My favourite female narrators include:
Cris Dukeheart
Lynde Houck
Elizabeth Louise
Callie Dalton
Kathleen Early
Kate Delane

My all time favourite narrations are, Paula Costello's multi accented performance of On Dublin Street and Andi Arndt's LOL narration of Play.

My favourite male narrators include:
Sebastian York
Jason Carpenter
Graham Halstead

I am looking forward to getting some audiobook recommendations on this group, the rating system on audible and goodreads seems to have 4+ stars for most books, which makes it difficult to narrow choices down.

message 172: by Sara ♥ (last edited Apr 07, 2017 01:00AM) (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 7 comments Hey! I'm Sara! I live in the midcities in TX... That's "code" for all the cities that are smooshed between Dallas and Fort Worth... but I'm from Fort Worth. Trust me, there's a big difference between D and FW! I think I got an invitation to join this group from Jonetta when it first started (late to the party as always), and I finally made it! Haha!

I listened to my first audiobook as an adult (as opposed to those kids ones where you turn the pages when it makes the chiming sound) in 2004 or 2005. These days, I "read" almost exclusively through audiobooks. Looks like of the 33 books I've read this year, only ONE was an actually book-book!

Anyway, one of my requirements for books is that they have some sort of romantic element. It can be preteens holding hands or whatever, but there's gotta be SOMETHING. Other than that, I'll listen to any genre.

My favorites are..........
*In Death series by Nora Roberts, narrated by the goddess Susan Ericksen
*Anything by Julie James, all narrated by Karen White
*Anything by Julia Quinn... various narrators, but Rosalyn Landor stands out, of course.
*YA - The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, narrated by Rebecca Soler. (SO GOOD)
*Anything read by someone with an Irish, Scottish, or Australian accent. (Or British...)

I think those are my big ones! :)

message 175: by Sara (last edited May 30, 2017 01:13PM) (new)

Sara Portman (saraportman) Waving hello to everyone! I am new to this group. I am a dedicated romance reader and writer, but I have been so busy that my reading is almost exclusively audiobooks these days. I'm a big historical romance lover, so Rosalyn Landor is one of my favorites. I have also really liked Mary Jane Wells as I'm listening through The Ravenels by Lisa Kleypas. Overall, by best audiobook experience ever has got to be Outlander, narrated by Davina Porter. The accents were so distinctive and well-done, listening was a completely immersive experience. (Also because it was over 30 hours of audio!) Although I have listened to some romances (contemporary) narrated by men, I usually find women narrating men's voices to be less distracting than men narrating female characters.
I'm looking forward to hearing recommendations here.

Welcome! I, too, love historical romances, and Landor and Wells are favorites. I also adore Elizabeth Hoyt's series narrated by Ashford McNab. There are sooo many!

message 179: by Lee (new)

Lee | 484 comments Karen White is one of my favorite narrators of contemporaries, especially the Julie James FBI/US Attorney series and anything by Jill Shalvis.

message 180: by Debbie (last edited Jun 06, 2017 06:12AM) (new)

Debbie Hagopian (debbisuz) Greetings to all from Gainesville FL. It's nice to see how so many of you love audiobooks as much as I do. A friend intoduced them to me 2 years ago and I was hooked instantly. Favorite genre is paranormal/fantasy romance. Next "fav" is historical romance...mostly anything highlander in nature.
Some of my most memorable/enjoyable series I've listened to and HIGHLY recommend if you haven't tried:
Fallen Angels, Black Dagger Brotherhood & Legacy Series (JR Ward)
Dark Hunterverse and The League series (Sherrilyn Kenyon)
Fever and Highlander series (Karen Marie Moning)
Hidden Legacy and Innkeeper Chronicles series (Ilona Andrews)
Dark Kings, Dark Sword and Dark Warriors series (Donna Grant)
Immortals After Dark and The Arcana Chronicles series (Kresley Cole)
Demonica, Lords of Deliverance and MoonBound Clan Vampires series (Larissa Ione)
Lux, Covenant, The Dark Elements, A Wicked Saga and Titan series (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
The Mortal Instruments, The Dark Artifices and The Infernal Devices series (Cassandra Clare)
Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series (Nalini Singh)
Sin Brothers and Blood Brothers series (Rebecca Zanetti)...I wish more of her series on audio were obtainable by libraries but seem to be restricted to Audible listening only.
Seven and Mageri series (Dannika Dark)
Lords of the Underworld and Alien Huntress series (Gena Showalter)

My favorite historical romance series authors:
Monica McCarty
Donna Grant
Maya Banks
Pamela Clare
Julie Garwood

I'd love suggestions.

message 184: by Suzie (new)

Suzie | 1 comments Hi I'm Suzie and I love audio books! :-) I tend to go for paranormal & contemporary and like many of the authors I see mentioned in this group.

Anyway, I've noticed some mentions of the price hike at audible and am feeling the pinch too. Do any of you guys know about a service called "Playster"? I saw an ad on Facebook and it looks interesting, but their website isn't overly informative.

Hello and thank you :-)

message 187: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (NOgrrrl) | 1 comments Hey, I'm Cherie and I listen to audiobooks everyday even when going to bed. I like buying older out-of-print audiobooks on cassette on ebay and making them into mp3s using the progam audacity and a cassette player.

I love gothics, romantic suspense, and sweet sappies by authors such as Victoria Holt, Mary Stewart, Phyllis A. Whitney, Susan Howatch, Betty Neels, and Barbara Cartland.

Hoopla, the online library service is wonderful for getting audiobooks for free. You can even listen offline with their app.

Joanna Loves Reading (joannalovesreading) Hi, my name is Joanna. I usually have at least two books going, one of which is audio. I don't listen to music. I listen to audiobooks. message 193: by Traci (new)

Traci Hey I'm Traci and love audio listening. Some might call it an addiction I just think of it as a passion. I'm probably 85% romance, 15% self help. Any book with Sebastian York as the narrator I will listen to. I love books by Jennifer Probst, Kristen Proby, Christina Lauren among many others. I am a hopeless romantic so I prefer the happily ever after stories. I love audio book series in which characters reappear and then have their own story in the future. I am looking for some good historical romance and vampire or super natural romance series so suggestions are appreciated.

Monica | 61 comments Hi! I'm Monica. This group popped up on my feed because of Jonetta, and it's right up my alley. I listen to audiobooks every day of the week, and they always involve romance. Some of my favorite romance narrators are Andi Arndt, Sebastian York, Zacchary Webber, and lately I have been loving Shane East! That deep British accent is just too yummy!

Book (1000books) | 10 comments Hi, I am KC. I finally bought a car that I can plug my iPhone to and listen to Kathryn Shay's books on Audible. Coming from the car speakers is wonderful. The car barely has any extras but it does let me listen to books. It has four wheels, a steering wheel and speakers. What more do I need? I love male narrators and would love to hear more of them do romances.
