Reluctant Adoptee

Adoption or Abduction or even Adoption via abduction.

Thank you, I already have these on my wish list.

Thank you so much! You understand what I'm looking for. I look forward to reading it.

Thank you. You can check out my list of examples to see what I'm looking for.

Well, lucky for me your memory was jogged. :)

Based on a remarkable true story.
Seven-year-old Chellamuthu’s life is forever changed when he is kidnapped from his village in India, sold to a Christian orphanage, and then adopted by an unsuspecting couple in the United States
Tip. The stories can be nonfiction

The Face on the Milk Carton might fit for fiction.
For non-fiction, Margaret Humphrey's book Empty Cradles might fit. It was made into the film Oranges & Sunshine starring Emily Watson.

Read and love it! Its sequel is on my list of examples.

Empty Cradles was recommend on my thread Black Market Babies.

It is the other way around, but I the premise. Thank you, Jenna for the suggestion.

It is the other way around, bu..." -- I just started reading it -- it does look like the daughter knows she was "adopted" and is interested in meeting her birth parents...but so far it is from POV of mother who has never given up hope!

As I said before, it sounds good.

I already watched the face on the milk carton. I've never heard of the other two I'll check them out. Thank you, Jenna

This sounds like it should go on my Black Market Babies thread, this is thread is for much older kids (hence the not wanting to be adopted) but I will still read it. Thank you, Jenna

A Long Way Home

A Long Way Home"
I just started reading this book right now! It's similar to what I'm looking for. Saroo Brierley would like be with his Indian mother, but, when the orphanage he staying with can't find her, he is soon adopted by a very loving Australian couple.

Spoiler Warning.
Tiger Eyes Davey's Aunt and Uncle who want kids, but can't have them eagerly fill out the role of parents for Davey and her brother after their dad is killed and their mom is too depressed to care for them
The Amulet of Samarkand Nathaniel is sold to the government by his birth parents at the age of five and sent to live with a curmudgeon old wizard (and not the good kind) to be his apprentice.
Dandelion Fire Henry is kidnapped by the wizard Darius who attempts to cast a spell on him to literally make Henry his son by blood.

Read it. I'm looking for adoptive parents that actually want the kid. The kid just doesn't want them.

Bingo! That's what I'm looking for...though I have already read it, I just forgot to add it to my list of examples. Thanks anyway.
