What are you reading, September 2016?

message 2: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey I'll be finishing The Book Thief and The Peach Keeper, and I also want to read When Autumn Leaves, and The Sugar Queen. I've been on a Sarah Addison Allen kick lately!

Mostafa Younis | 34 comments I'll be finishing "The monk who sold his Ferrari" and I'll start "The book Thief". Hopefully will finish it by the the end of September

message 4: by Julie (new)

Julie (julie_prewett) Finishing up on "The Book Thief" and then who knows!! I have so many books in my possession from book sales and winning books from here, that I am a bit overwhelmed in a good way! Plus, I have received some book recommendations from fellow Snails that I really want to start on. In fact, that's what I am going to do for September. That will be my official "Fellow Snails Recommendation" month for me. I think I have 6 recommendations so far. I will try and get through them. :-)

Hey book people! Sorry I've been so absent lately. Lot on my plate right now.

On this 1st day of September I will list my top 3 "currently reading" titles:
1) The Color of Love The Color of Love by Sandra Kitt

2) Feature and Magazine Writing: Action, Angle and Anecdotes Feature and Magazine Writing Action, Angle and Anecdotes by David E. Sumner

3) The Book Thief The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I'm reading like a dozen books altogether, but these are my most important books at the moment!

I'm telling your other books (the remaining dozen) that they didn't make your top 3. They are going to be mad! LOL

Oh, please don't do that, Julie, they're already very impatient with me at the moment!

April Munday | 13 comments I've just started Missing, Presumed by Susie Steiner , which was recommended by a friend on Goodreads. I'm not sure what I think about it yet.

message 10: by Amy (new)

Amy Kelsey - - I ADORE Sarah Addison Allen. I devour everything she writes.

I am currently reading some recommendations from my daughters, ages 14 & 11. I love YA lit & love even more that it gives me stuff to talk about with my teenager. My 11yo's favorite author is Kate DiCamillo, & she owns two that I haven't yet read (The Magician's Elephant & The Tiger Rising), so those are next for me! They're late elementary/middle school level, so they're fast reads.

Those sound like great books for kids, Amy.

Kate DiCamillo also wrote Because of Winn-Dixie. Those of you with kids have likely seen the movie version.

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo

Just Elise (justelise) | 176 comments I'm reading The Name of the Wind. It had me at the very first page, and I've only gotten more engrossed along the way. I love this book! I'm less than halfway through it, but I already know it's going on my favorites list and I'll be giving it five stars. :D

(Damn, another series with which to have to have to wait eons for another book.)

I'm glad you're reading this one, Elise. I have a copy but haven't tackled it yet. I'll patiently await your final judgement on it (no rush -- I have plenty else to read).

message 14: by Just Elise (new)

Just Elise (justelise) | 176 comments StarMan, I don't think my final judgement on it will be much different from my current one. ;) It's beautifully, artfully written; has fantastic, well-crafted characters; an intriguing world; a brilliant storyline and a lovely sprinkling of humor. It's a really good story, and it's told exceedingly well.

I'll report back though. Cool that it's one you‎ want to read. :) The only predicament is the unknown publication date of book 3 (though there are a few spinoff stories available).

I want to read it now since you love it. I'm going to see if library has it today. Thanks Elise!!

Just Elise (justelise) | 176 comments Great, Julie! I hope you enjoy it! I've been finding it really hard to do much that I should be doing because all I want to do is read that book. Take that as a warning if you'd like. ;) But the up side of that is that I'll probably finish it this weekend. :)
