As we are nearing the end of the month, it's time to decide! What was your favourite book you read in August?

Please try to choose only one book! If you want to share all the books you read in August, visit the "What are you reading in August 2016" discussion.

Ooh that's a tough one, I finished Red Seas Under Red Skies, but honestly A Gathering of Shadows was my top read

Tammie | 5949 comments Clean Sweep I guess. I didn't get to read anything in August that blew me away, mainly because I went to visit family in Louisiana and a lot of my reading was derailed by the flooding there. August was an awful month all around for me.

Midnight Tides and I could pretty much pick my Malazan read every month but I couldn't decide between a few other titles I loved.

Thank you Dani, I'm sure it will. And sorry for the gloomy post. I'm just super emotional right now about my parents home.

Well if it helps Tammie you've given me some perspective. I'm having a tough parenting day, but I am lucky in having a secure home. Hope everything gets better down south soon for your family and everyone else.

Sorry to hear about the disaster in Louisana, Tammie.

I also didn't read a whole lot that blew me away in August. Midnight Tides was great, but my least favourite in the series so far.

Funny the way that happens. MT I thought was a great return after HOC which although still great was my least favorite.

I'm sorry to hear that Tammie. I hope your parents are okay now.

My favourite read of the month was non fantasy.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Brilliant murder mystery and easily a 5 star read for me.

Dani | 577 comments My favorite read for August was Unseemly Science, which falls into the steampunk category. I liked it even better than the first book, so hopefully the third book will be a strong ending to the series.

They are safe which is what is really the most important thing.

I really liked And Then There Were None too. The BBC made a TV miniseries of it in 2015 and I thought it was really well done. If you haven't already seen it you should look it up.

I'm glad to hear your parents are safe Tammie.

I've heard good things about the mini series as well and do plan to watch it at some point.
