PamG (lynguy1) | 2502 comments I finished my first book of 2021 and it was excellent. The Kaiser's Web The Kaiser's Web (Cotton Malone, #16) by Steve Berry by Steve Berry. This is the sixteenth book in the Cotton Malone series. It's a political thriller and suspense novel that takes place in multiple countries. Berry once again did an excellent job of combining fact and fiction into an entertaining and fast-paced novel.

Carolyn | 1613 comments This excellent collection of short stories by some great crime writers was first released in 2013 (with a second volume in 2018). I listened to the audiobook from Netgalley, ably narrated by Daniel Thomas May.

PamG (lynguy1) | 2502 comments I finished The Keepers The Keepers (Mace Reid K-9 Mystery, #2) by Jeffrey B. Burton by Jeffrey B. Burton. This is the second book in the Mace Reid K-9 Mystery series. Burton managed to seamlessly combine an amateur sleuth mystery with a police procedural that also highlights relationships between dogs and people.

PattyMacDotComma | 1244 comments The Searcher by Tana French is an atmospheric mystery set in the hills and bogs of the West of Ireland where strangers are seldom welcome. We know what that means.

Carolyn | 1613 comments The Conductors by Nicole Glover The Conductors by Nicole Glover is a murder mystery with a fantasy element in a historical setting. Didn't quite deliver for me but has a lot of 5 star reviews, so others clearly loved it.

PamG (lynguy1) | 2502 comments The Incredible Winston Browne The Incredible Winston Browne by Sean Dietrich by Sean Dietrich is the best book that I have read so far in 2021. I would not have thought that a book set in the small fictional Florida town of Moab during the 1950’s would end up being a five star read. But this historical fiction with some suspense and action was excellent.

PattyMacDotComma | 1244 comments I do love a good short story, so I'm glad that Amazon is publishing originals from many different authors. In the Empty Quarter by G. Willow Wilson is a scary little cautionary tale I enjoyed.
