Plenty of angst and suspense
I wanted the main character to be stronger.
The writing style with many flashback scenes isn't my preferred style.

Overall, this was an entertaining story with compelling characters, excellent world-building, and some unique differences in the magic system. It's a little slow in places and has lots of trigger warnings listed at the front of the book.

The stunning plot has twists and turns as the story builds momentum. There is plenty of action, conflict, and suspense as well as a few surprises along the way. Wait until you read the incredible conclusion!
