Xorben | 2 comments So, what was your first? Did you know, it was one of the big ones?

My first: The Mule, by Asimov

I read it back in 2006 together with the other Foundation Books and never heard about the Hugo Award back then ;-)

Martin Dolezal (nethar) Well, only Hugo, not joint winner? Well that would be quite hard to find... :-) I need to compare a list of winners with my list of read books by date...

...five minutes later :-P

Sooo... ;-) It seems the first Hugo winner book I read was really one of the big ones - Dune.

Lauren (lozbang426) | 1 comments My first Hugo Award winner (and the book that got me really interested in Sci-Fi) was Left Hand of Darkness - Still a favourite!

message 4: by Matt (new)

Matt Killebrew | 1 comments Hard to remember, but probably Dune or Starship Troopers, but it might have been Startide Rising. Dad always had that one laying around.

message 5: by Astrid Terese (new)

Astrid Terese (astridterese) Thank you for the list. Then I could tell that Dune must have been the first one.

Xorben | 2 comments Did some of you Dune Readers ever read the whole Canon?

I stopped after Book 2. Have the other four in the shelve. Not shure if the other are worth my time :-(

Martin Dolezal (nethar) I have read 3 or 4 and quite liked it, but it is tooooo many years ago :-)

message 8: by Enno (new)

Enno (ennorehling) | 1 comments It was a long time ago, but I think the first Hugo winner that I read must have been The Fountains of Paradise. I didn't know what the Hugos were back then, but I knew I loved almost everything Arthur C. Clarke wrote.
