Kat I've failed to write anything today. Only re-arranged some previously written paragraphs. Have a beer nonetheless.

Cheers!

Not tonight, but I hope to catch up as the weekend approaches...

message 3: by Kat (new)

Kat I have bought the only lager the weird immigrant shop had available. It was incredibly cheap and is called Crown Premium Pils.

It'll do :)

message 4: by Kat (new)

Kat hahahaha, yes, THAT"S EXACTLY THE STUFF!

I could have gotten a choice of German beers at the supermarket, but as I had already walked down the street and around the corner before I realised I'd quite fancy a bottle, I was too lazy to turn around.

message 5: by Kat (new)

Kat Well, I'm sitting here like an idiot with my foot in a bucket of saltwater on doctor's orders, and therefore can't move from my chair.

Had no choice but to get a drink and the internet within reach to pass the time :)

message 6: by Kat (new)

Kat I had to have part of my toenail removed last week. The surgeon decided I didn't need stitches, but rather let the wound heal up by itself. So for 3 days I slowly bled through bandage after bandage, but once that stopped the surgeon told me to bathe the foot in saltwater every day, keep it clean, and put bandaids on it inbetween. That's what I've been doing, and it's healing remarkably well.

message 7: by Kat (new)

Kat Also doesn't hurt one bit.

message 8: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Asencio (nadia_asencio) | 29 comments I just wrote narrative descriptions for my husband's entire menu (he's an executive chef) that the wait staff will use to recite to the guests. You'd be surprised how many synonyms there are for "crispy," "succulent," and "savory"! LOL

TIME TO WATCH NETFLIX FOR AN HOUR, then continue to finish writing my play into new screenwriting software that I recently bought (the original copy I wrote on a TYPEWRITER I bought when living in NYC!)....

message 9: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Asencio (nadia_asencio) | 29 comments Do you guys like Goose IPA? Love it. There's a HUGE craft beer industry in Miami (I know, crazy) and there is no shortage of amazing beers down here, although only a select few are bottled and distributed, mostly you have to go to the breweries themselves which are really cute hipster watering holes but kind of a drive....SO, none for me today! :)

message 10: by Kat (new)

Kat Ooooooooh, new software to play with! :)

Yes, I was surprised about the saltwater as well. But the surgeon is in his 70s and has been doing this at least 4 decades, so I trust him.

Nadia, you make me hungry :)

Nadia Asencio (nadia_asencio) | 29 comments Tim wrote: "Nadia, I hope crispy and succulent weren't in anticipation of Kat's toenails? The girl's in pain! Give her a break!! :D"

LMAO!!! Poor Kat, feel better!! <3

message 12: by Kat (new)

Kat Also, no, not in pain at all. This bucket does wonders, and I have not used a SINGLE painkiller since the operation.

message 13: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Asencio (nadia_asencio) | 29 comments You're a trooper Kat; I've had operations where I haven't taken any pain killers either...at least, not for pain, LOL!

message 14: by Kat (new)

Kat bucket of water and a cheap lager.

I'm a happy camper :)

message 15: by Kat (new)

Kat Hahahaha :)

......and on the way back home I'll get an indian to go. Deal.

message 16: by Kat (new)

Kat Hmmmm. Do I open another one?

Have just rediscovered a favourite album in my iTunes. Am tempted to wake the neighbours by singing along.

Nadia Asencio (nadia_asencio) | 29 comments Kat:

Grilled Lamb Chops: “Double boned New Zealand Lamb chops, slow-marinated with Aji Panca (Peruvian red pepper) and grilled to perfection, served with crispy seasonal vegetables.”

Pulpo 320: “Tender, Aji Panca dry-rubbed octopus charred to perfection, served with Frisse salad (mixed greens), Pico de Gallo, and Aji aioli with a hint of lime.”

320 Rice Bowl: “Succulently seasoned Cilantro and beer-infused rice with green-lip mussels, grilled prawns, seasonal vegetables, pickled onions, and spicy Rocoto pepper.”

Kat OMG NADIA, I WANT ONE OF EACH !!!!!!!!!

message 19: by Kat (last edited Aug 31, 2016 03:27PM) (new)

Kat Tim, the current song is "Sieben" by Subway to Sally, followed by "Ohne Liebe" by the same band.

message 20: by Kat (new)

Kat youtube should find them

message 21: by Kat (new)

Kat I want lamb chops...... I envy you Nadia, I wish I even so much as knew a chef, let alone being married to one!

message 22: by Kat (new)

Kat Now playing: "Alright" by Tadpole :)

message 23: by Kat (last edited Aug 31, 2016 03:55PM) (new)

Kat No, far from it. I'm not even that much into music, I have a terrible attention span outside books.

If I had to choose between never hearing music again, or never eating chocolate again, I would turn up with a wheelbarrow for my chocolate, and no regrets.

My ex-husband works in the music industry, so I happen to be acquainted with a number of musicians, singers, bands, producers, and such. But that's definitely his world, not mine. I get bored when they talk shop.

message 24: by Kat (new)

Kat But I think it's bedtime for me now. Have a good night!

Ian Bott (iansbott) | 216 comments Now the chilli is simmering slowly for later, time to pour a glass of wine and get a few hundred words down...

Cheers!

message 27: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) Nice! I'm drinking a dry-hopped sour ale from my local brewery. And when I say local, I mean a 5 minute drive away. I'm also struggling with some moderate writer's block, hoping the suds will knock some words loose. Who's still up?

message 28: by Ian (new)

Ian Bott (iansbott) | 216 comments Still here - it's still only early out here on the west coast :)

Coming up for air. Six hundred words down since my last comment.

I've been managing to hold writer's block at bay recently since I started digging beneath the surface and trying to understand what causes blockages. Most of the time I find it's a lot more concrete (and therefore treatable) than simply waiting for inspiration. I started a series of blog posts about it here:
http://thebaldpatch.blogspot.ca/searc...
I had a few more lines of inquiry to post about but just haven't got around to it yet, but maybe there's something here that might help...

message 29: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) What do you know, I'm also on the west coast. Where abouts are you?

message 30: by Ian (new)

Ian Bott (iansbott) | 216 comments Hang on, have we had this conversation before on another thread (which I've now lost track of)? Are you the guy from Brentwood?

message 31: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) Yep, and I was beginning to think that myself! :)

So what's the issue? Where's the roadblock come into play?

message 33: by Ian (new)

Ian Bott (iansbott) | 216 comments Matthew wrote: "So what's the issue? Where's the roadblock come into play?"

That's the point, there is no roadblock right now. Over the past six months I've been pretty aggressively using a combination of techniques (that I blogged about) to avoid getting blocked, and it's been working quite well.

message 34: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) Well then, keep doing it! In the meantime, I'm going to check out what those techniques are since my well has become rather dry of late.

Jen Pattison | 409 comments Normally just Twinings Earl Grey for me, but I'm having a celebratory beer tonight - boss is leaving, yay! I can concentrate on book matters now too! Oh, and 2 days of thunderstorms have ended.

Only for a couple of months, though it is wonderful to have a boss whom I see infrequently after being micromanaged in my previous job. Time to get the Peroni out, I think.

message 40: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19853 comments Tonight I'm game. Even for a grappa

message 41: by Kat (new)

Kat I have some lager left. Watching Elementary and celebrating that I managed to fill out all the paperwork for a student loan application.

Because I'm going back to school! Well, sort of. Very excited!

message 42: by Kat (new)

Kat I'm going on a prep course for the proper chartered accountant exams, or the equivalent to that.

The prep course takes 2 years part-time, and the exams are rumoured to have an 80% fail rate. However, the place I'm doing the course at got 100% of last year's students through the exam, so I'm more excited than scared.

This is a big deal for me, because my rather *cough* interesting *cough* career path meant that I lack the formal business qualification usually needed to get accepted. I had to make up for that with years of work experience, so it's taken me quite some time to get to this point.

message 43: by Kat (new)

Kat Hehe, well thank you :)

Chartered accountant just means they have passed formal exams by an accrediting body that has a charter.

Anybody can call themselves and accountant, but whether they're good at it or not is up to them. Having passed the exams to become chartered means you really know your shizz and are recognised by a governing body.

The term in Germany isn't "chartered" either, but it's a similar process.

message 44: by Kat (new)

Kat In other news: Beethoven is using my bandaged toe as a pillow. Not sure how that's going to play out.

message 45: by Kat (new)

Kat I told him, but he's deaf. Poor little fella is almost 90 in human years. But he's purring.

message 46: by Kat (new)

Kat Noooooooo. In a minute I'm going to scoop him up and put him to bed on his special blanket next to my pillow. Old man has privileges in this house!

Am undecided whether to have another beer and watch another episode, or pack up the 'pooter and go to bed.

message 47: by Kat (new)

Kat I was watching Elementary.

But pretty tired now. I think I shall retire for the night.

Enjoy the film!

message 48: by Kat (new)

Kat I think I need a stiff Schnapps.

Went to bed early, but to no avail because I just woke up from a nightmare. :(

message 49: by Kat (new)

Kat I like Berlin, even though I've only been 2 or 3 times. I had some weird adventures there.

message 50: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Williams (houseofwilliams) Never been to Berlin, but been to the south. Rothenberg aub der Tauber and Munich. Both awesome places!
