Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments We've discussed songs and soundtracks for books before based on already composed music. But! If you had to choose one artist/composer to read your book(s) and compose a soundtrack to match, who would be your choice?

Mine would be Nobuo Uematsu, famous for all of the video game soundtrack composing he's done. I've been a fan of his work for as long as I can remember and he has the ability to hit so many different tones of "storytelling" with his music it's amazing.

J.D. Cunegan (jdcunegan) | 240 comments Danny Elfman. I listen to his work on Batman (in my mind, the definitive Batman theme) and can't help but wonder what magic he could spin for my costumed vigilante.

"Rave On" would need the actors to sing some songs and some being played in the background by the original artists. During the moments when no one is performing or listening to music, it might be best not to even have a score. But, if it were a must, I would go with Jeff Beal. I listened to bits of the "Carnivale" soundtrack while writing the book and it seemed to fit well.

Jane Jago | 888 comments I need George and Ira reincarnated.

Dorsey Jr. | 107 comments Excellent thread topic! James Horner (If it could've been so), Bear McCreary, and myself. I would also use a bunch of independents.

Melissa Jensen (kdragon) | 469 comments Hands down Two Steps from Hell for my more Epic fantasies. For some of my darker, scarier stuff, the people or person who did the soundtracks for American McGee's Alice and Alice the Madness Returns.

Dorsey Jr. | 107 comments Oh... You said one composer. James Horner without question.

Kayla (kesia) | 16 comments Pirate soundtrack, for a pirate story. For Fallen Into Bad Company it would have to be Hans Zimmer, the guy who did the Pirate's of the Caribbean soundtrack.

Andrea Lightfoot (goodreadscomandrea17) | 82 comments Possibly music that would fit in with the story or poem of each chapter. The last one I would have as a New Age, relaxing, yoga music.

Chris Marchant (chrismarchant) | 2 comments I'm a big fan of chance Thomas, loved the music he did for Lord of the Rings Online, the Riders of Rohan expansion. I actually downloaded the whole theme track from ITunes and burned it onto CD so I can listen to it in the car.

R. Billing (r_billing) | 228 comments I would really like a John Williams score. I want opening titles with Jane's spaceship belting across the screen to a thunderous full orchestra.

I could see using John Williams for another project I have coming up!

Kevin Kuhn (kevinkuhn) | 20 comments Michael Andrews, I loved the mood the score created in Donny Darco.

Yeah, good action music, which is what I tend to look for in most of my writing. I always look for action soundtracks when writing. If anyone is familiar with the soundtrack for The Good, The Bad, and the Weird, I sometimes use that to write action scenes. So if Hans Zimmer was not available I would want Dalparan.
