Beeg Panda (beegpanda) | 6 comments Thought I'd ask this here, on the off chance that someone is still around to answer :) :)

The solution is probably RIGHT there in front of my face but for the life of me, I can't find it.

In my iBooks APP on my iPhone, I have my books organized in "Collections", like TBR, READ, TO REVIEW, etc.

I'm trying to figure out how to trace a particular book within the "Collection" I had initially put it, without having to scroll through each of my 10 "Collections."

I search for a particular book by dragging the screen down, typing in my search criteria and the list of matched books show up.

Now I can either open the book or "move" it to a "Collection" but it wont open up within the "Collection" I had allocated it to initially.

If I knew which "Collection" it's in it makes it easier to see if I've "READ" it or if its "READ BUT NEEDS REVIEWING" or if I'm "WAITING FOR REST OF SERIES", etc.

Hope I'm making sense here

MJ | 7 comments Hiya Beeg, I'm probably about to make this clear as mud... but I think it is an answer for you, maybe. This is how it works for me.

I'm iPad/iBooks. I am completely overrun with books, shelves and collections, so like you, it can be a pain in the butt to find what I'm looking for.

I find 'book view' instead of 'list view' best. On the top right hand side of the iBooks page you have the EDIT button. Just to the left of that there are two buttons. One has four little squares, the other has four lines. The lines give you a very long list of all your books, but you can change it to shelves using the four toggle buttons on the bottom of the page.

Either way, if you know at least part of the author or title, you can type it in the search box at the top of the iBooks screen. If you can't see it, just take yourself up as high as you can go on the screen. It usually stays out of sight until you give it that extra little nudge. Once you found the book you're looking for, click into it...then, when you click out of it, you will find yourself in whichever shelf/collection you had stored that book in.

Long winded, but I don't know of another way. Hopefully I haven't confused you, bored you to tears, or repeated what you already know. Good luck.

MJ | 7 comments I've just reread your question, and think I've just repeated what you already do. But whn I close my searched for book, I always end up in the collection it was allocated to.

Another thing I've started to do this year... as my book collection really is getting out of control, is to put a brief 'note' in the front of each book when I'm finished reading. I give a very brief blurb to jog my memory if there isn't one provided (can't just flip an ebook over like you an the hard copies). I also leave a date read. And generally only if it's really bad, or maybe not too bad, but has bits that drove me mad, I will leave a note to either avoid, or to mentally prepare to ignore whatever irritated me.

Maybe if the search thing isn't working for you, you could note which collection its sitting in.
