I've been browsing lists and have come across several lists that encourage self published and indie authors to add their own books to the list, but when I go to add mine it says I can't do that. Is there a way to be able to add them, especially when the list specifically encourages it? Please let me know.

That is correct. Too many authors were putting their books onto lists where they did not belong in any way, shape, or form.
