30.2 Dlmrose's Task: Dig in!
On August 12, 1990, Sue, one of the largest, most extensive and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex specimens was discovered.

Choose 2 options and read one book for each.

1) Read a book set predominately in one of these places where T. rex fossils have been found: Canada: Alberta, Saskatchewan; USA: Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota

2) Read a book with an archaeologist or paleontologist as a main character. An archaeologist is a specialist in archaeology, the scientific study of prehistoric peoples and their cultures by analysis of their artifacts, inscriptions, monuments, etc.. A paleontologist studies the science of the forms of life existing in former geologic periods, as represented by their fossils. Ex. The Crossing Places, Lion in the Valley, Site Unseen
Required: If If the character is not identified as an archaeologist or paleontologist in the GR book description provide a reference when you post.

3) Paleontologist and marine archaeologist Sue Hendrickson discovered the fossils. Read a book by an author named Sue or any variation of the name Susan as identified by Behind the Name. Ex. Susanna Kearsley, Sue Monk Kidd, Suzette Haden Elgin
The "Sue" name may occupy any position in the author's name, ex. Amy Sue Nathan Hyphenated names do not work.

4) Read a book with one of the following words in the title or subtitle: Bone, skeleton, skull, fossil, dinosaur. Plurals and possessives work, but no other variations.

Required:Identify the options

I wanted to check that Crocodile on the Sandbank Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters with her main character, Amelia Peabody, as an archaeologist/Egyptologist is acceptable for option a of Task 30.2, for the character being an archaeologist, along with the rest of the series. There are many books in the series with Amelia and her husband, who is also an archaeologist. Thank you.

Valorie | 817 comments Would this book work for option 2, archaeologist: Bastian. The description alludes to the main character being an archaeologist. Example:"The forum excavations in Rome go on, directed by the iron-willed, charismatic Lord Bastian Satyr." Also... "The temple is the find of his career" is mentioned in the description.

No, it doesn't work for 4.
But, it looks like Corvus may be a paleontologist. If that's true, then it would work for option 2

SamZ (samwisezbrown) Would Wings of Refuge work for option 2? GR description mentions the main character doing an archaeological dig.

I want to be sure that Haunted Ground by Erin Hart is okay for option 2.

Taken from the book description: Irish archaeologist Cormac Maguire and American pathologist Nora Gavin team up in a case that will open old wounds

Hi
I didn't know if we needed to show proof of where a book is set in here ( the help thread ) , or when we post the completed task .

For Option 1 -
I'm reading To Hell on a Fast Horse: Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and the Epic Chase to Justice in the Old West

It's from this list -- books set in New Mexico :
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Thanks ~

Sharice George | 51 comments Question, I have already read a book for option 4 about the greatest dinosaur discoveries (I am on a dinosaur kick). I was wondering if I read Discovery Travel Adventure Dinosaur Digs (Discovery Travel Adventures) by Blake Edgar

it would qualify as happening in the dinosaur places as it is a travel book on how to get on dinosaur digs and see the greatest locations for dinosaur finds but isn't "set" in any one place other than dinosaur digs in general.

Option 1 requires the book to be set in one of the listed places. It doesn't seem like that books fits

It doesn't look like most of the book is set in Montana
