Aussie Readers discussion

Hello all. Soo...I'm a lifelong Marylander but lived in lovely Fremantle for about 5 years in the early 2000s. One of the rooms I rented had a bunch of leftover books, one of which was part of an Australian fiction series which I would guess was either 80s or 90s that I've never been able to track down. Its not really high literature by any account and its basically all about this one guy (or bloke) who kinda gets in and out of his own misadventures, but it was definitely very adult, lots of cussing, sex, drinking and drugs, etc. I can't recall the author or the main characters name but the book I read he went to Jamaica for some reason and met some annoying Americans...probably a lot like a real Jamaican holiday.
Anyway, I figured a 20 minute google search on Australian fiction series from the 80s and 90s would prove fruitful but haven't found anything. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
